Remember Biff Tannen From ‘Back To The Future’? Check Him Out Now!
Everyone loves a character that they can really get behind, but they love a character even more that they can love to hate, and some movies have some fantastic examples of this kind of character.
We all loved watching movies whilst growing up and I’m sure you have some that are more memorable than others, one thing that many of our favourite movies had was bullies! Some of them were just a regular jerk while others were downright evil. Do you remember all of these bullies?
Check out how they look today, and what they’ve been up to…
1. Draco Malfoy – Tom Felton
Draco Malfoy was a straight up bully in the Harry Potter movie, and was one of the baddest of the bad from the start, but does seem to show signs that he’s not as inherently evil as some of the others in his family as the series goes on.
Since his stint as Draco Malfoy, Fenton has gone on to star in Murder in the First, The Flash and Ophelia and has another big project in production as we speak.
2. Chet Donnelly – Bill Paxton
Remember when they turned him into a pile of poop in Weird Science? Bill Paxton was absolutely perfect as Chet and really made you want him to get turned in to that turd, making you cheer when he did!
Paxton went on to have a prolific career, appearing in Twister, Thunderbirds, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D and Training Day. Paxton sadly passed away in 2017 and was definitely taken too soon as he was a genuine talent.[adinserter block=”10″]
3. John Bender – Judd Nelson
He was the bad guy in The Breakfast Club, and played the part of the bully perfectly. Everyone loved to hate this guy, even though you end up feeling a bit sorry for him when his back story is revealed more.
Nelson has gone on to star in more than 100 productions with half a dozen or so that he’s still working on now, so is certainly a busy guy. He’s been seen in the likes of Dark Asylum, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, Two and a Half Men and Empire.
4. Nurse Ratched – Lousie Fletcher
She was the crazy mean nurse in One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. Every time I see Louise Fletcher in something, all I can thing to myself is, “Medication time, gentlemen, medication time”. Pure evil this one, and one that we were actually sad made it out alive!
Louise Fletcher is a real talent and brings a true sense of gravitas to any role. She was well known for her part as Kai Winn in Star Trek Deep Space Nine, another seriously nasty character and Fletcher has also starred in E.R, Heroes, Shameless and Girlboss.
5. Biff Tannen – Thomas F. Wilson
I’m sure you remember Biff from Back To The Future! He was the nasty bully who would pick on Marty and his dad, but would always get his comeuppance usually involving manure!
Thomas F Wilson has been a very successful actor, appearing in Zach Stone is Gonna Be Famous, Training Day and Mosaic and looks to be continuing to hit our screens regularly.[adinserter block=”10″]
6.Regina George – Rachel McAdams
She was the mean girl in Mean Girls, and the one that everyone really did love to hate, it’s funny how some characters just make you dislike them and is a sign they’ve been acted perfectly!
Rachel McAdams has become very successful and shown that she’s a truly talented actress, playing in diverse projects including Sherlock Holmes, True Detective and Doctor Strange, it looks like shell be on our screens for years to come, which we’re very glad about.
7. Buzz McCallister – Devin Ratray
You remember this jerk from Home Alone? He was Kevin’s older brother and took genuine pleasure in being a bully, which is surely the worst kind!
Devin Ratray has gone on to star in the likes of Masterminds, Mosaic, The Tick and the reboot of Hawaii Five-0.
8. Debo – Tommy “Tiny” Lister.
Remember him chasing after Smokey on Friday? He had the look about him that made him properly menacing without even trying, but he pulled off the role perfectly, making him seem even nastier as a result.
Lister has gone on to star in many huge productions, including the likes of Star Trek: Enterprise, The Dark Knight, Fish Hooks and Mann and Wife and is still continuing to act now.
9. Fred O’Bannion – Ben Affleck
He was the bully in Dazed and Confused, and he managed to pull off this role with aplomb as we are used to now from Mr Affleck.
Ben Affleck has gone on to be a huge star, appearing in Goood Will Hunting, Daredevil, Armageddon (one of my personal favourites), and recently starring as Bruce Wayne and Batman in Batman V Superman, and also Justice League.
10. Jim – Anthony Michael Hall
He was the vicious/possessive Jim in Edward Scissorhands, and was genuinely nasty, but he was one of the few on this list who really got what he deserved in the end thanks to Edward.
Anthony Michael Hall has been around for years and continues to act in many projects. We’ve seen him in CSI: Miami, The Dark Knight, Warehouse 13, Psych and War Machine, and he is soon to appear on our screens again in Something About Her.
11. Ace Merrill – Kiefer Sutherland
He was the teenage menace in the movie Stand By Me, and seemed to have no morals at all, not flinching at pulling a gun on some very young lads for his own personal gain, a true bad ‘un here!
Kiefer Sutherland has had a very successful career, he was fantastic as Doc in the Young Guns films, but is most well known now for his role on 24 which has truly made him a household name.
12. Troy Perkins – Steve Antin
He made sure that the boys in The Goonies had a hard time, but was left the loser when his girlfriend sent her coat up to him in a bucket, choosing her friends The Goonies over him – yay!
Antin appeared in a few more productions, but has gone on to make more of a success for himself as a writer and producer, preferring to be behind the camera instead of in front of it.
13. Gunnery Sergeant Hartman – R. Lee Ermey
Remember this guy Full Metal Jacket? He was one of the nastiest and meanest characters on this list, made even worse by the fact that most of it was ad-libbed and improvised from his time in the army himself!
Ermey had a distinctive vocal talent, which he used to great effect by lending his voice to characters in animated productions and video games. Ermey sadly passed away just a couple of months ago in April 2018.
14. Mick McAllister – Mark Arnold
He was the bully basketball player in Teen Wolf, and the one who thought he just needed to be the bad guy to get the girl, playing the typical Jock character.
Arnold has had a long and varied career, appearing in projects like Desperate Housewives, Kingsman: The Golden Circle and Blade Runner 2049, also lending his voice talents to several animated productions and video games.
15. Kathryn Kerteuil – Sarah Michelle Gellar
She was the evil bully in Cruel Intentions, and played the part perfectly, especially as she was so well known as Buffy The Vampire Slayer so had to go the extra mile to make sure people didn’t just see her as this.
Gellar went on to star in many other productions, but in recent times has been more prolific as a voice actress, lending her voice to a diverse range of roles in the likes of Star Wars Rebels, American Dad and Robot Chicken, though she’s been seen on the screen itself in many productions including Ringer, The Crazy Ones and a TV version of Cruel Intentions, so she is certainly keeping very busy!
16. Shooter McGavin – Chistopher McDonald
Remember this guy from Happy Gilmore, he was certainly bad, especially when compared with the innocence that Adam Sandler brought to the title role!
McDonald went on to have a diverse career, he’s starred in a wide variety of productions on the big and small screen, including The Perfect Storm, The Bronx is Burning, Black Widow and Boardwalk Empire, with several productions still under way now!
17. Nancy Downs – Fairuza Balk
Remember her evil role in the movie The Craft? The film was about a coven of witches, so they weren’t necessarily all good anyway, but she certainly stood out as the bad one of the bunch!
Balk went on to star in many big projects including The Island of Dr. Moreau, American History X, The Water Boy and August Falls. For me she’ll always be Vicki Vallencourt alongside Adam Sandler in The Water Boy though, which does take the edge off her role in The Craft ever so slightly![adinserter block=”10″]
18. Steff McKee – James Spader
Remember him from Pretty in Pink? He certainly was a nasty piece of work, especially when you put him up against the innocent Duckie in the same movie!
James Spader has starred in some massive productions since Pretty in Pink, including Stargate, Boston Legal, The Office and The Blacklist, proving he’s a diverse talent and should never be underrated.
19. Scut Farkus – Zack Ward
Remember him from A Christmas Story? He was the bad lad with the hat that made him look that little bit crazier than he already was!
Zack Ward has gone on to star in Freddy Vs. Jason, Charmed, Battle Planet and Sharknado: Heart of Sharkness, he also has a few productions in the works at present to should be around for a while yet!
20. Johnny Lawrence – William Zabka
He got taught a valuable lesson by Daniel LaRusso by the end of The Karate Kid, and was a seriously nasty piece of work, but William Zabka played the part to perfection!
William Zabka has been in a few productions since The Karate Kid, we’ve seen him in Mindstorm and Descent in to Darkness, Psych and How I Met Your Mother, but none have had us as excited as the prospect of him revisiting the role of Johnny Lawrence in the series, Cobra Kai, due out this summer – we can’t wait!![adinserter block=”10″]
Who was your favourite movie bully that you loved to hate? Have they made the list or is it someone else entirely? We could probably fill the list with characters from The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones, but they’re for in a few years time when we see what happens to their characters in the end so watch this space.
In the mean time, let us know all your thoughts about movie bullies that have made an impact and left a lasting memory with you in the comments as always!
