It is only human to make mistakes, especially when you are reading the news.

When you do live TV as a job, across five days a week, you’re going to make a couple of mistakes every now and again.

With most jobs, if you mess up a bit, not many people are around to see it. Sometimes even no people are around to see…you get away with it.

But when news presenters make mistakes, especially on live television, they do it bigger and better than anyone else. Oh, and one more thing, it’s done so that everyone can see.

Perhaps it is the classes “go big or go home” lifestyle that the lead. Perhaps it is the intense amount of pressure that they are under.

Whatever the reason for their mistakes, news fails are hilarious to watch. A slip of the tongue can turn something quite ordinary into something quite obscene.

From reporters who have accidentally cursed on air, to saying the wrong names, funny news fails is one way to see you through this slow working week.

You never know when a reporter is going to have a fail moment or a graphics person is going to misspell the word “too.” Enjoy!

10. KTVU Reports Racist Names After Asiana Flight Crash

This example shows why you should never read everything put on your teleprompter.

[adunit mobile=”RTK_dVa8″]

One newsreader learned the hard way after the crash of Asiana Flight 214.

[adunit mobile=”RTK_wCZW”]

The news affiliate KTVU jumped at the change of being able to report the names of the pilots.

It’s too bad that they were poorly written racist jokes and shows why you shouldn’t let your interns do the fact checking.

[adunit mobile=”RTK_z9hm”]

9. Local News Station Wishes People A Happy Holocaust

This is a very unfortunate incident of someone not using a very good image.

[adunit mobile=”RTK_dVa8″]

On September 22, 2015, a Chicago news affiliate ran a graphic of the golden start that Jewish prisoners were forced to wear in concentration camps.

[adunit mobile=”RTK_wCZW”]

It was accompanied by a message for a happy Yom Kippur.

The network was quick to issue an apology, but they might want to buy their graphic people a history book.

[adunit mobile=”RTK_z9hm”]

8. This Rather Ironic Spelling Mistake…

This one is a very ironic case of misspelling.

[adunit mobile=”RTK_dVa8″]

Here is Indianna’s WNDU-TV making the bold claim that school is too easy for students.

[adunit mobile=”RTK_wCZW”]

Only instead of writing ‘too,’ they wrote ‘two.’

[adunit mobile=”RTK_z9hm”]

Seems like whoever was responsible for this didn’t pay much attention in school themselves.

7. This News Anchor Mistakes Blindness With Being Gay

[adunit mobile=”RTK_dVa8″]

This one is from Action 7 News and has racked up over 2 million views on YouTube.

Climbing Mount Everest is pretty difficult right? Even more so if you’re gay…no we mean blind, definitely blind.

[adunit mobile=”RTK_wCZW”]

See, it’s easy to get the two confused, just as this news anchor did.

We’re pretty sure being gay would have no impact on your ability to climb a mountain. This lady, however, is not so sure.

[adunit mobile=”RTK_z9hm”]

6. Obama or Osama

This comes from the station Global TV Toronto and we were blessed with it in 2011.

[adunit mobile=”RTK_dVa8″]

The anchor here was breaking the news that President Obama had given the green light to the mission that killed Osama Bin Laden.

[adunit mobile=”RTK_wCZW”]

However, Osama and Obama sound pretty similar right?

[adunit mobile=”RTK_z9hm”]

So much so, that she kept confusing the two, talking about the death of Obama quite a bit.

5. Cats v.s Reporter

[adunit mobile=”RTK_dVa8″]

And now we go live to Fox 8 WJW News in Cleveland and travel back to 2007.

Reporter Kathleen Cochrane is at a cat shelter, holding one of the cats because why not? Cats are cute.

[adunit mobile=”RTK_wCZW”]

Well not this cat. It clearly didn’t want to be held and was making itself pretty known.

When she didn’t get the message, the cat swiped for Cochrane, leaving her in tears. Ouch.

[adunit mobile=”RTK_z9hm”]

4. This Plane Is Serving P**is

We all know that plane food can be pretty strange right?

[adunit mobile=”RTK_dVa8″]

But there’s nothing too strange about peanuts. These are pretty standard when it comes to planes.

[adunit mobile=”RTK_wCZW”]

Well not according to this anchor on CNN back in 2009.

She repeatedly keeps saying ‘penis’ instead of ‘peanuts,’ and the clip is very satisfying to watch.

[adunit mobile=”RTK_z9hm”]

3. Fancy A Quickie Or A Double Fisting?

All are mentioned in this 90 seconds of madness.

[adunit mobile=”RTK_dVa8″]

It was provided to us by Today’s TMJ 4 NBC News, Milwaukee, which is already a mouth fill.

[adunit mobile=”RTK_wCZW”]

The anchors were discussing the shortest happy hour of fifteen minutes at a local bar.

One said that they’d have to do a double fist whilst the other suggested going for a quickie.

[adunit mobile=”RTK_z9hm”]

2. Jeremy Who?

The current Foreign Secretary of the United Kingdom is a chap named Jeremy Hunt.

[adunit mobile=”RTK_dVa8″]

Now ‘Hunt’ seems like a perfectly reasonable name to pronounce.

[adunit mobile=”RTK_wCZW”]

Some people, however, take this opportunity to let their feelings be known about him.

We know what you did there, you weren’t making a mistake!

[adunit mobile=”RTK_z9hm”]

1. Jenny From The Block

And finally, we have this gem from Fox News back in 2007.

[adunit mobile=”RTK_dVa8″]

This news anchor was so confused about the word ‘block party’ that he said the word ‘blow job’ instead.

[adunit mobile=”RTK_wCZW”]

His mind was way down in the gutter, but it’s a slip up that Freud himself would be proud of.

[adunit mobile=”RTK_z9hm”]

A Reporter Calls Her Co-Presenter Fat

[adunit mobile=”RTK_dVa8″]

Sam Rubin is a KTLA reporter.

He was in the middle of a story about how his wife think’s he is fat, saying his wife said ‘since when did you become the fat guy on this show.’

[adunit mobile=”RTK_wCZW”]

Cue the reporter manning the traffic centre. “He’s always been,” she says, meaning the fat guy on air.

The only thing is, she didn’t realise that the mic was on and that everyone could hear her. Luckily they laughed it off (but he was dying inside.)

[adunit mobile=”RTK_z9hm”]

Confusing the Rebel Alliance Symbol For Al-Qaeda

Back in November of 2015, a Spanish news station was reporting on Al-Qaeda.

[adunit mobile=”RTK_dVa8″]

Reporter Jota Abril was discussing the attacks in Paris when he pointed to a symbol on his screen.

[adunit mobile=”RTK_wCZW”]

Only it wasn’t the symbol for any terrorist organisation, but of the fictional Jedi resistance.

[adunit mobile=”RTK_z9hm”]

The only attack that they were guilty of is the one on the Death Star.

Samuel L. Jackson Or Laurence Fishburne

[adunit mobile=”RTK_dVa8″]

The news anchor put his foot right in it when he confused Samuel L. Jackson with Laurence Fishburne.

“Did you get a lot of reaction to that Superbowl commercial?” the anchor asks.

[adunit mobile=”RTK_wCZW”]

“What Superbowl commercial?” asks a confused Jackson.

[adunit mobile=”RTK_z9hm”]

“You’re as bad as the people on Twitter, I’m not Laurence Fishburne,” Jackson retorted, to a very embarrassed host.

Storms In The Shape Of A P***s

[adunit mobile=”RTK_dVa8″]

Someone needs to tell Concho Valley to stock up on protection.

That’s because it’s going to be raining, of course.

[adunit mobile=”RTK_wCZW”]

Yes, this unfortunate weather graphic is in the shape of an enormous phallus.

The positioning of the coastline makes it even worse.

[adunit mobile=”RTK_z9hm”]

Sexting Caught Live On Air

[adunit mobile=”RTK_dVa8″]

This one comes courtesy of Fox 26.

We’re not sure what segment of news this is involved in, but it was a big old OOPS.

[adunit mobile=”RTK_wCZW”]

The phone graphic that they used features a very forward attempt at sexting.

This kid clearly needs to up his game!

[adunit mobile=”RTK_z9hm”]

A.J. Clemente Has a Bad First Day on the Job

[adunit mobile=”RTK_dVa8″]

It’s your big break, your first day on the job!

You don’t want to mess it up, so what do you do? That’s right, you mutter obscenities under your breath.

[adunit mobile=”RTK_wCZW”]

A.J. Clemente was either really nervous or unhappy with how he read out the news summary.

[adunit mobile=”RTK_z9hm”]

“F***ing shit,” he mutters as the cameras begin to roll.

Woman Does Unfortunate Thing Before Being Killed

[adunit mobile=”RTK_dVa8″]

One woman from East Columbus really had a bad time of it according to this news report.

Not only was she killed, but she had some unfortunate bowel movements beforehand.

[adunit mobile=”RTK_wCZW”]

According to 10 TV Live, this all happened outside her East Columbus apartment.

[adunit mobile=”RTK_z9hm”]

R.I.P you beautiful human, and may you now s**t in peace.

Be Careful When Scrolling Through Social Media Live On TV

[adunit mobile=”RTK_dVa8″]

Whilst reporting breaking news about the crash of the KOMO-TV helicopter in Seattle, Fox 31 Denver showed a little more than it bargained for.

It happened as they were scrolling live through a Twitter feed of pictures from the crash scene.

[adunit mobile=”RTK_wCZW”]

The station issued this apology: “The photo was mistakenly broadcast by our control room. It did not come from the tablet many viewers saw being used by one of our anchors.

We apologize for the inadvertent broadcast of the image and we are taking immediate steps to prevent such an accident from happening again.”

[adunit mobile=”RTK_z9hm”]

Always Remember To Hit The Space Bar

[adunit mobile=”RTK_dVa8″]

When typing up a headline, always remember to use the space bar.

Whoever was responsible for this unfortunate piece of information did not.

[adunit mobile=”RTK_wCZW”]

We’re not sure what happened to the upper midwest during the winter of 2015.

[adunit mobile=”RTK_z9hm”]

Either way, it didn’t look good.

More Teens Are Having What?

[adunit mobile=”RTK_dVa8″]

As we have seen before, it’s pretty easy to get your words mixed up.

For this news anchor, Holly Pietrzak, the letter ‘”l” gave her particular trouble.

[adunit mobile=”RTK_wCZW”]

She was talking about teens having “luck,” but unfortunately that is not what came out of her mouth.

[adunit mobile=”RTK_z9hm”]

If nothing else, Holly Pietrzak is definitely more popular with teens than ever.

This News Anchor Is Mad At The Boat

[adunit mobile=”RTK_dVa8″]

This comes to us from NBC News 4.

Anchor Sue Simmons is summarising one of the teasers of what to expect on the show.

[adunit mobile=”RTK_wCZW”]

First up, telling people how to get the most at the grocers. After this, “what the f**k is that doing?”

This is in reference to images of a large cruise ship. She later apologised for the unfortunate mistake.

[adunit mobile=”RTK_z9hm”]

And Finally, The Ultimate Freak Out

It is no secret that news anchor, Bill O’Reilly, has a bit of a temper.

[adunit mobile=”RTK_dVa8″]

He once cut down the son of a 9/11 victim, saying “I’ve done more for the 9/11 families by their own admission — I’ve done more for them than you will ever hope to do, so you keep your mouth shut … Shut up. Shut up!”

He also pushed and berated an Obama campaign worker he felt was blocking his camera shot.

[adunit mobile=”RTK_wCZW”]

However, years after any of his Fox News antics, O’Reilly really lost it with his staff members at Inside Edition.

It is not totally clear what set the presenter off. Either his teleprompter wasn’t working properly, or some bad newscast writing got him really riled up.

[adunit mobile=”RTK_z9hm”]

With his arms flailing and O’Reilly becoming progressively louder and louder, he became so agitated he started cursing the director off camera.

[adunit mobile=”RTK_dVa8″]

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V1M6EYA14eU&fbclid=IwAR3EUEjNvlFmmZWycUbXSxyWlWrBKUff-XtvUS-IO-2P-XuTWdC5oMBSfvY

[adunit mobile=”RTK_wCZW”]

It is strange watching him absolutely lose it in one breath, and then sign off calmly to the camera in the other.

If you watch closely, however, and you can see O’Reilly’s not done. He practically rips off his suit jacket as the show fades out.

[adunit mobile=”RTK_z9hm”]
