It’s not eating mountains of sweets, pumpkin spice lattes and marshmallows, or watching spooky movies under blankets – the best part of Halloween is obviously the Halloween costumes.

From the comedic to the terrifying, to the intricate and beautiful, Halloween is the one time of year when everyone can be free to be exactly who (or what) they want. Today we’re rounding up some of the best Halloween costumes out there, from the fabulous to the frightening!

1. Up, up and away!

Dogs are man’s best friend, so obviously there’s nothing better than a Halloween costume that utilises a cute puppy. If you happen to be an elderly gentleman with a golden retriever, then the perfect outfit should be pretty obvious to you! All you need are some colourful balloons and a walker with tennis balls on the end, and you’re instantly the iconic character of Carl from Pixar’s Up.

2. Wise beyond her years

There are a few cliche costumes that always seem to be popular among toddlers: the latest Disney princess, a ballet dancer, a pet cat or an astronaut; these are costumes that come back again and again. Those ideas are classics for a reason, which only makes it more awesome that this little kid decided to take the road less travelled, by dressing up as an old lady!

3. It’s the pumpkin king!

The Nightmare Before Christmas is one of the most popular Halloween (and supposedly Christmas, depending on your stance) movies of all time, and yet you don’t see a tonne of costumes referencing it. Part of the problem is it takes some serious skill and initiative to put together a good skeleton costume, especially one that’s recognisably Tim Burton!

4. Everything but the spooky kitchen sink

The level of effort someone puts into their Halloween costume varies wildly from person to person. While some people wait until the day of the party to scribble a comedy sentence on a T-shirt and call it done, others end up ordering a costume off the internet and saving themselves the stress. Others still decide to make a costume from scratch from literal Halloween home decor, making them the clear winners of Halloween!

5. Picasso!

Going as a famous painting for Halloween isn’t a totally unheard of idea, but most people tend to pick a portrait that is pretty close to reality. You wouldn’t expect someone to gravitate towards Picasso, the king of abstraction, when it comes to picking a portrait – but that’s what this creative person did! In doing so, they created a real-life optical illusion. How cool!

6. Come play with us!

It’s pretty unlikely that these twins are old enough to have seen The Shining, and thus the nightmarish ghost children that they’re dressing up as, but this is a wildly successful Halloween costume just the same. Not only do they both get to wear cute party dresses, but they also get to scare any adults and horror movie fans in a 20-foot radius.

7. The tiniest hobbit

What’s more adorable than a hobbit? A really tiny hobbit, of course! If you have a curly-haired toddler in your life then this could be the perfect Halloween costume, since it mostly fits like normal clothes, and they don’t even have to wear an elaborate outfit! All they need is a backpack full of snacks and a cosy cape, and they’re ready to go!

8. Another glorious Halloween… it makes me sick!

Thanks to Bette Midler’s famously hilarious performance, Winifred from Hocus Pocus has become one of the most instantly recognisable Halloween characters in the world. However, her highly specific hair and make-up, not to mention her intricate witch’s dress, make it pretty difficult to recreate convincingly. This woman has the costume and the attitude completely on point!

9. All rise for the judge

There are a lot of idols we expect children to have, from Belle from Beauty and the Beast to Iron Man and Captain America. With that said, kids can also find their role models in the real world, and end up choosing their favourite real-life heroes to portray at Halloween. For this little girl, that meant dressing up as the iconic Ruth Bader Ginsburg, complete with bench!

10. Hijabi Harlequin

There’s no doubt about it: the Harley Quinn look has become one of the most popular Halloween costumes out there. From her first Suicide Squad look to her sparkly revamp in Birds of Prey to her brand new red ballgown in James Gunn’s Suicide Squad, there are plenty of outfits to choose from, and hundreds of ways to personalise them!

11. Matching monsters

Sometimes it’s the weirdest costumes that become the most iconic. Who knows how this couple decided to dress up as these weird googly-eyed monsters (maybe they were planning on going as ghosts until they accidentally washed a pink sock in with the sheets?), but they ended up with a low-effort costume that’s absolutely hilarious.

12. The most adorable dragon

Who better to dress up as for Halloween than the Mother of Dragons herself? This costume is of cosplay quality, with meticulously done hair, armour and make-up to ensure there’s way more than just a passing resemblance. That’s why it’s adorable and hilarious that it has been paired with a puppy in a generic dragon costume, complete with tiny wings!

13. Mini Maleficent

Lots of little girls get super excited to dress up as their favourite princess for Halloween, whether they pick a classic like Cinderella or a modern favourite like Moana. Some even want to dress up as queens, like Elsa or Merida’s mum. With that said, this little girl decided to dress up as the queen of all evil fairies, Maleficent, instead!

14. The emoji sorority

There’s only one thing more annoying than having to figure out your Halloween costume at the last minute, and that’s having to figure out a group Halloween costume at the last minute. Thankfully, this group’s look was saved by the ingenious brother of one of them, who swept in with an easy and immediately recognisable (and tech-savvy) costume!

15. Like a moth to the flame

Couples costumes can be seriously cheesy when done wrong, but when done right they’re hilarious and adorable. Dressing up as a gross furry flying bug might not be everyone’s idea of romantic, especially when one of you is required to dress up as a lamp to match, but it’s also a signal that your significant other sees you as the light of their life, which is pretty sweet!

16. Mandrake tantrum

Harry Potter costumes can sometimes be a cliche, but if you’re going to do one, this is how to do it right. Dressing your baby up as a screaming mandrake gives you an instant pass on any annoying toddler tantrums they might have, and the ear-muffs are an on-theme way to minimise the noise and also keep your ears warm while you’re out!

17. It’s the Oogie Boogie man!

Lots of Halloween costumes are infamous for being made of thin materials or showing off a lot of skin, leading to a lot of shivering guests at Halloween parties and kids bundled up in big coats and scarves over their princess dresses. If you want to be sure that you’ll stay warm and toasty throughout the spooky season, this Oogie Boogie costume might be a good option!

18. A gold medal-winning costume

There’s no greater sign of effort when it comes to Halloween costumes than body paint. It takes forever to apply smoothly, it gets all over your costume and everything else you touch, and you have to worry about it smudging all night. Therefore, the fact that this woman went with a gold body paint look places her in the top tier of Halloween costume heroes.

19. It’s the wrong caesar

Comedy couple costumes can sometimes be pretty cringe, especially when they’re based on puns or wordplay, but this one actually kind of works! Maybe it’s the high glamour of the Cleopatra costume plus her truly unimpressed expression, or the fact that these two costumes each work as individual pieces, but this couples’ costume really takes the cake… or the condiment!

20. Bring your portal to the party!

The unfortunate thing about this costume is that it feels like the guy playing the legs really got the short end of the stick. When the pair are together it looks totally awesome, and is enough of a nerdy reference to be clever without being too obscure, but separated one person is essentially rendered an illuminated pair of pants for the night. Poor guy. Looks cool though.

21. The royal family

Given how ubiquitous they are across all media, the royal family are surprisingly unpopular when it comes to Halloween costumes. However, this family decided to make the royals their own by inverting the ages and having the kid play the late elder matriarch of the family, the Queen. Given that the Queen was often towered over by her relatives, it totally works!

22. Meeting your heroes

Doing a good job on your Halloween costume can feel really good, but do you know what’s even better? Randomly bumping into the actor who first portrayed your character while you’re out and about in costume! When this university student made the odd choice to dress up as a Christmas character for Halloween, he probably didn’t think he’d be validated by bumping into Will Ferrell on campus!

23. Negasonic Toddler Warhead

Like many other daughters, this little girl wanted to match her dad when it came time to get dressed up for Halloween and go trick or treating. The problem was, the dad was going as Deadpool… a pretty un-family-friendly character. Solution? Dress your daughter up as Negasonic Teenage Warhead (or Negasonic Child-age Warhead at least)!

25. Error 404

This costume is hilarious and bound to be a hit with anyone who’s an internet nerd. It’s funny, clever, and incredibly low-effort, so what’s not to love? If you’re looking to recreate this look all you need is a laptop, printer, safety pin, and a plain T-shirt to pin your ‘error message’ to. It’s a great option if you’re looking for a last minute costume!

26. A real-life Beanie baby!

This costume is, frankly, adorable. Everybody loves Beanie babies and everybody loves dogs, so this costume is a winner all round. Sure, it’s not the scariest costume going, but we can let that slide because he does look like such a good boy. Plus this look is super easy to recreate on your own fur babies if you want to get them involved in the fun this Halloween!

27. Hi-Diddily-Ho Neighbourino!

Now this is a great costume for all The Simpsons lovers out there! If you’re wanting to break away from the more overdone options of Homer and Marge, Ned Flanders is a great option. It’s also a super straightforward costume to replicate – although you will definitely need a few litres of yellow body paint if you want to nail the look!

28. A childhood classic

This costume – Po from the Teletubbies – is a classic option if you’re feeling nostalgic this Halloween. These costumes are available to buy almost anywhere, but if you’re feeling up to it, you could probably have a go at creating your own! If you’re planning on going out with three other friends, why not recreate the whole gang and get your mates to dress up as the remaining three Teletubbies – Tinky Winky, La-La, and Dipsy?

29. Creepy and kooky

This couple have gone as the creepiest couple of all time: Gomez and Morticia Addams, of Addams Family fame. It’s an easy look to recreate: all you really need is copious amounts of black clothing! This is an undoubtedly failsafe option for Halloween, as Gomez and Morticia are surely the most mysterious and spooky couple ever.

30. Simple, elegant, yet bold

Of course, this look is an homage to The Incredibles character Edna Mode. The half-Japanese, half-German fashion designer and ‘auteur’ may not have been part of the Incredibles family herself, but she was certainly a memorable figure from the film and makes for a great Halloween costume. This particular look is – as Edna would put it – simple, elegant, yet bold.

31. Curses! It’s Mojo Jojo!

Wow – this is a look which takes serious dedication to pull off. This is a recreation of the Powerpuff Girls antagonist Mojo Jojo. If you’ve forgotten exactly who Mojo Jojo is, he’s essentially the mad, hyper-intelligent chimpanzee who plots to destroy the Powerpuff Girls. This isn’t a costume for those who want a simple Halloween look, that’s for sure.

32. Life imitates art

This is a great Halloween look for anyone who’s into their art. This aesthetically-pleasing look plays homage to a famous series of murals by Bristol-based graffiti artist Banksy. Everything about this look is perfect, from the black and white dress to the bright red heart-shaped balloon. Again, not the scariest costume, but an eye-catching one nonetheless.

33. How witty

Why go as Kevin Bacon for Halloween when you can go as a strip of bacon named Kevin? This look takes a simple idea and turns it into something a little more witty, without being too confusing or time-consuming to pull off. A costume like will certainly intrigue and amuse your friends if you’re heading out to a Halloween party this year!

34. An artsy look

This is another great costume for all the art-lovers out there. This look pays homage to impressionist painter Vincent Van Gogh, one of the greatest (and most misunderstood) artists to come out of the 19th century. This outfit displays an impressive attention to detail, from the face paint right down to the Starry Night-inspired suit.

35. Remy, is that you?

Who doesn’t love Ratatouille? A film about a rat chef named Remy stole everyone’s hearts when it was released back in 2007, and to this day it remains a popular movie. So popular that it’s still inspiring Halloween costumes like the one pictured above! Cute, simple and funny, this outfit is a great choice for Halloween.

36. Fiery fashion

This is a costume that’ll make you double take! Going as ‘fire’ is a little metaphorical but it can be pulled off, as this picture proves. It’s also a relatively simple look to achieve, provided you have lots of red, orange, and yellow clothes. We wouldn’t recommend literally climbing into a working fireplace, though…

37. Gotta catch ’em all!

This Halloween costume sees these two dress up as Ash and Pikachu. This is an awesome father and son look, but you could definitely do this with a friend or partner too. And while in this instance the son has opted to go as Pikachu, you could also switch things up and go as your favourite Pokemon – whichever that may be!

38. An iconic family

There are lots of families from pop culture to choose from if you’re keen for your own family to dress in sync this Halloween, but what better family to choose than The Incredibles? These parents and their kids have nailed the Incredibles look with matching costumes. On top of looking super cool, it’s also a pretty adorable.

39. It’s Taco Belle!

This is another witty costume. At first you think it’s a simple recreation of Belle from Beauty and the Beast, but then you notice the tacos before realising – it’s Taco Belle! Costumes like this are a great talking point and are a great way of demonstrating your creativity and sense of humour. Sure, it takes a lot of effort to put together, but it’s so worth it.

40. A good gimmick

Stock photos can be weirdly funny given how random and mundane they are, and this stock photo costume is genius. It’s another easy look to pull off – all you’d need to do is print out a photo large enough to poke your head through and then secure it to your clothes. It’s a witty look that will no doubt have people double-taking all night!

41. Another great couples’ look

This is a great costume based off two Star Wars characters – Jabba the Hutt and Princess Leia. It’s a much more amusing and off-the-wall choice if you’d rather not go as a more obvious pairing like Leia and Han Solo. This couple have seriously nailed the look – we just hope you can see out from under that Jabba the Hutt costume!

42. Everyone’s favourite pizza place

This is a charming group outfit that makes you think ‘what?’ at first, before you realise it’s a nod to Dominoes pizza. It’s clear that the people behind this idea really tried to think outside the box, and the result is this amusing group costume. It looks relatively easy to recreate too, which is always a great bonus!

43. Sisterly love

This is another Simpsons costume that thinks outside the box a bit. These three have decided to go as Marge, Selma, and Patty, the trio of sisters from the popular cartoon. They’ve aced the look and have clearly made a great choice of Halloween costume. They’ve even managed to get Marge’s wig to stay vertical – a hugely impressive feat!

44. Avatar-inspired

This look requires a lot of skill, but it’s worth it for the final result. This costume – which has transformed half of this woman into a Na’vi from the Avatar films – displays an impressive attention to detail and evidently requires a lot of time and effort. But there’s no doubt that if you turned up looking like this to a Halloween party, you’d be showered in compliments as soon as you walked through the door!

45. A terrifying T-Rex!

Wow, this is a terrifying costume! Kids love dinosaurs and what better dinosaur to dress up as than the mighty T-Rex? Complete with sharp teeth and a long tail, this costume is amazingly detailed. These sorts of costumes are relatively easy to come by but are always certain to make a big impact – and, most importantly, keep your kids happy!

46. Two peas in a pod

This is a great couples’ costume for so many reasons. First off, it’s just visually pleasing to look at. Secondly, it’s pretty witty. And thirdly, the yin-and-yang idea conveys just how strong and well-matched this couple must be. It also look pretty easily to replicate – provided you own a fair amount of black and white clothing.

47. A handsome couple

This is a great costume if you’re a fan of Lego! These two have gone as a bridal Lego couple and there’s an impressive attention to detail – just look at the suit, the veil and the bouquet! There’s only one potential issue with this costume – we’re not entirely sure if you’re able to see out from under those Lego masks…

48. Spooky

Now this is a scary costume! This is a modern twist on a classic costume. Instead of just going as a plain old ‘ghost’, this person has chosen to go as ‘ghosting’ – i.e. the term used to describe completely blanking someone after a couple of dates. Being ghosted is terrifying so this is definitely a costume which will spook people out!

49. It’s Betty Boop!

This is an adorable Betty Boop costume. This lady has nailed the look, from the red dress right down to the red heels. She’s also gone the extra mile and styled her hair like Betty’s and also donned a pair of big dangly earrings too. It’s attention to the little details like this which really elevates a look to the next level!

50. Up all night to get lucky

This is a good costume for anyone who’s a fan of French electronic music duo Daft Punk – aka Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter. These two have gone all out and there’ll certainly be no confusion about who they are! From the light up suit and shoes to the futuristic helmet, there’s no doubt that this is an exceptional costume.

51. Edward Scissorhands and his topiary bush

This is another look which won’t leave people guessing what you’re meant to be. This couple have decided to think outside the box and instead of going as Edward Scissorhands and Kim Boggs, they’ve gone as Edward Scissorhands and his topiary bush! There’s no doubt that they’ve nailed the look – Edward’s hands are especially impressive!

52. Getting philosophical

This costume is a little niche, but it’s super impressive if you know who it’s meant to be. This is a look that’s meant to emulate René Descartes, a French philosopher, mathematician, and scientist who invented analytic geometry. This guy has recreated Descartes’ long flowing locks and quizzical stare so perfectly, it’s almost a little scary.

53. It’s Jimi

This is another costume which is based on an important figure from history. This guy has decided to dress up as Jimi Hendrix, the iconic guitarist, singer, and songwriter. Hendrix’s career only lasted four years and he died tragically at the young age of 27, but he made a huge impact on music in spite of this. All in all, a great choice of costume!

54. How witty

This is a very amusing costume for a couple. Don’t quite get the joke? The idea is that the woman has gone has her ‘filtered’ self – with pristine hair and makeup and airbrushed skin – while her other half has gone as the ‘unfiltered’ version, with no makeup (and a beard!). It’s a great option for couples who want to do something a little different this year.

55. Purrfection

Now this is an adorable costume. This cat’s owner has dressed them up as the sweetest little princess, in an outfit that’s brimming with pink tulle and sparkles. The icing on the cake is the glittery hat which ties the whole look together. This isn’t the spookiest Halloween look, granted, but it’s definitely the cutest!

56. Little pumpkin

This is a great way of getting your pet involved in all the Halloween fun. This little guy has been dressed up as a pumpkin – a simple yet effective look. Featuring a little orange cape with a green bow tie and a tiny pumpkin hat, this is an adorable costume for an equally adorable dog! This good boy deserves all the treats this Halloween.

57. Squid Game

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve likely heard about the Netflix series Squid Game – which has gone on to become the platform’s most successful series ever. It’s no surprise that the unsettling show has inspired Halloween costumes such as this one. The green tracksuit is a simple look but it’s certainly one that’s instantly recognisable.

58. It’s Buzz and Woody!

This is a great costume for you and your bestie. After all. can anyone name a better duo than Buzz and Woody?! This is another costume which will requite a little bit of effort – you’re going to need to find replicas of Buzz’s iconic suit and Woody’s cowboy outfit – but as these two guys prove, it’ll all be worth it in the end!

59. Tale as old as time

How sweet – this couple have decided to go as Beauty and The Beast! But if you look again, you’ll see that they’ve subverted expectations a little bit with the guy going as Belle and the girl going as The Beast! The two still make a very handsome couple – even if Belle has a beard and is several inches taller than The Beast!

60. Artsy

This is a great costume for any artsy couples out there. If you’re not sure who these two are, the guy has gone as legendary TV artist Bob Ross while the girl has gone as his painting! This is a fairly easy look to replicate – especially if you have big hair and a beard just like Ross did. All you really need is a paintbrush!

61. Moth and a lamp

This is another fabulous idea for any couples out there. Moths love lamps – so dressing up as a moth and a lamp respectively is a great, tongue-in-cheek way of showing the world how crazy you both are for each other. It’s not as on-the-nose as dressing up as an iconic celebrity couple and is certainly a more creative look.

62. Here’s Johnny

Film characters always make great Halloween costumes, and this is no exception. This guy has dressed up as Johnny from the Shining – a great choice for Halloween considering just how creepy and scary the film is. This costume is a nod to the moment where a frenzied Johnny breaks through a hotel door with an axe to get to Wendy.

63. Power couple

These two have gone as Khal Drogo and Danaerys Targaryen from Game of Thrones! This is a great choice for couples who want to dress up as characters from the Thrones universe while still looking good. To nail Danaerys’ look, make sure you have a long, blonde wig, while for Drogo it’ll help if you have some big muscles!

64. How sweet

This is a sweet gumball machine costume. This lady has a bunch of multicoloured pom-poms attached to her top which perfectly represent colourful gumballs, while her skirt is meant to represent the dispenser part of the machine. It’s a very subtle but effective look. All in all, a very cute yet very creative costume! Bravo!

65. Catdog!

Who remembers Catdog? A niche Nickolodeon cartoon from the early 2000s, ‘Catdog’ was an animal that was half-cat, half-dog. This costume nails the look and there’s a real attention to detail, as evidenced by Cat’s red nose and Dog’s blue one. This is a great costume for couples, but be warned: you’ll have to spend 100% of your Halloween night literally joined at the hip!

66. A happy couple

This is another great couples’ costume, this time featuring Mario and Princess Peach. Again, gender roles have been reversed and in this instance the girl is Mario while the guy is Peach. It kind of works, given that Mario has always been portrayed as pretty short. Every part of this costume is great – from Mario’s dungarees to Peach’s beautiful dress!

67. A happy cactus

Every Millennial loves cacti, so it makes sense that this young woman has decided to go as one for Halloween! With her skirt representing a pot and her upper body representing the cactus itself, this is a witty look that’s completed with a tulle flower on top of her head. The only issue we can see is that it might get a little tiring to hold your arms like that all night!

68. How cute

This is an amusing costume which sees a baby dressed up as a granny! The details here complete the look: from the cotton-ball wig to the glasses, it’s clear a lot of time and effort has gone into this costume. The prop of the mug is another hilarious touch – especially considering it’s basically half the size of the baby!

69. Aaahh!!! Real Monsters

Aaahh!!! Real Monsters was another great cartoon back in the day, and this couple has chosen to go as two of the show’s main characters: Krumm and Oblina. This is a fantastic costume and these two are instantly recognisable. We just hope that the guy who’s gone as Krumm doesn’t get too tired holding his eyeballs up all night!

70. Princess Leia, is that you?

Princess Leia, is that you? This grandad proves that you’re never too old to get involved in the Halloween fun! As you can see, he’s decided to go as Princess Leia from Star Wars, with his hoover acting as R2-D2! Our favourite part of the whole look just has to be the wig complete with Leia’s incredibly iconic space buns.

71. Brave soldiers

These guys have gone as classic army men toy soldiers! This is an amazing group costume and everyone has nailed the look. It’s a great choice which will make anyone feel nostalgic, and we love the attention to detail and how everyone has their own little prop. The only thing we’re wondering is how they’re planning on walking…

72. You’re a wizard, Harry!

This is a costume for all the Harry Potter fans out there! As you can see, in this instance dad has gone as Hagrid and his three kids have gone as Harry, Ron, and Hermione. Of course, Hagrid is a giant in the series, and having an adult tower over three kids like this really does create the illusion that he’s ten feet tall!

73. Mr. Jobs

What a brilliant look – this man has gone as the one and only Steve Jobs. He’s even gone to the effort of visiting an Apple store for this little photoshoot! This is a costume that’s super easy to recreate, too – all you need is a sleek black turtleneck, some jeans, and some glasses. Bonus points if you have a lot of Apple products to flaunt!

74. Mother of dragons

Anyone who has watched Game of Thrones will know that Danaerys Targaryen is often dubbed ‘The Mother of Dragons.’ Here is a costume that takes that literally – as you can see, mum has gone as Danaerys herself while her little kids have been dressed up as her dragons! It’s an adorable costume that manages to get all the family involved.

75. It’s Him!

This is a costume of the Powerpuff Girls’ antagonist HIM! In the show, HIM – which stands for His Infernal Majesty – was a very camp, flamboyant demon with lobster-like claws and thigh-high black boots. This is a fantastic Halloween costume which brings to life one of the more memorable villains from children’s television!

76. A handsome couple

Sure, you can be Belle and I’ll be the obvious other character from that movie… Lumiere! You’ve got to love the level of commitment on this one – though it looks like the bottom of the candlestick is photoshopped. That’s cheating!

77. A king and a queen

These two have gone as Harley Quinn and The Joker from Suicide Squad, but with a twist. As you can see, the guy has gone as Harley Quinn while the girl has gone as The Joker! The pair still make a very handsome couple and have really smashed it out of the park with these amazing costumes. They’ve even aced Harley Quinn’s iconic makeup!

78. Frosty!

Now this is a seriously morbid costume. This guy has gone as a undead Everest climber – you can tell from the logo on his jacket and also the oxygen tank strapped to his back. His makeup and several little details suggest that he’s a zombie, including his deathly pale skin and also the frost on his eyebrows. If you look closely you can also see that his fingers have been effected by frostbite!

79. An optical illusion

This is a costume that’ll make you double take. This guy has dressed up as though he’s been severed in two – although he looks pretty calm about the whole situation! How has this guy managed to make it look as though his body has literally been cut in half at the waist? We have no idea, but we’re thoroughly impressed!!

80. A very scary sight

Anyone with a computer knows just how terrifying this sight is. This guy has gone as the infamous ‘blue screen of death’ – i.e. the error screen that pops up before your computer automatically shuts down and restarts. It almost always happens just before you’ve saved a really important document, too. This guy has added a spooky twist to the costume by dressing as the Grim Reaper too!

81. It’s Amazon Prime!

This is a great costume for any Transformers fans. This guy has gone as ‘Amazon Prime’… get it? He’s created this witty costume using loads of Amazon Prime delivery boxes and is even armed with a roll of sellotape. While at first this may seem like an easy costume to recreate, if you look closer you can there’s actually an impressive level of detail and care that’s gone into crafting this.

82. Jinkies!

How sweet – this family have dressed up as the Scooby Doo gang. Mum and Dad have gone as Scooby and Shaggy, while the kids are Daphne, Fred, and Velma. This is a fantastic option for a Halloween costume if you’ve got a big family. The kids will be guaranteed to love it, the costumes will be easy to find, and most importantly – you’ll all look great!

83. It’s Calvin Candie

Everyone loves that meme of Leonardo DiCaprio as Calvin Candie in Django Unchained. You know the one – the picture of him sipping at a drink with a big smirk on his face. This guy has gone as the meme and absolutely nailed the look – everything from the suit, to the glass, to the look on his face is absolutely perfect. Tarantino would be proud!]

84. Don’t look into her eyes!

The story of Medusa is so terrifying that it’s no surprise this lady has chosen to go as the mythical murderer for her Halloween costume. Famously, Medusa had hair made of snakes and could turn people to stone just by looking into their eyes. It doesn’t get much scarier than that – and it’s safe to say this woman has nailed the look completely!

85. Neat! Sweet!

The Addams Family are practically synonymous with Halloween at this point – something which this family is clearly tapping into. While mum and dad have gone as Gomez and Morticia, their little girl has gone as Wednesday, who is carrying Cousin Itt. Even their cat has got involved by making a cameo as the youngest Addams, Pugsley!

86. A plague doctor

This person has gone as a plague doctor from the 1600s. Back in the 17th century physicians would treat victims of the bubonic plague wearing this spooky outfit – the beak was stuffed with sweet-smelling flowers like lavender, as bad smells were previously thought to spread the disease. This would have made a great 2020 Halloween costume…

87. So fetch

This girl unfortunately got into a car accident before Halloween but didn’t let her injury stop her from joining in on the fun. Instead, she took the opportunity to dress up as Regina George from Mean Girls – specifically copying her prom outfit and decorating her brace with flowers like Regina does in the film. This is so fetch!

88. The last airbender

This guy has gone as Aang, the main character from Avatar: The Last Airbender. There’s an impressive level of detail and the glowing blue paint is a nice touch. The Nickolodeon cartoon series was hugely popular back in the mid 2000s, so this is a nice and nostalgic costume for any Gen Z wishing to relive their childhood!

89. A ghostly costume

Ghost is one of the best films to come out of the 1980s, so it’s unsurprising that the spooky film is still inspiring Halloween costumes to this day. This girl might not have had a guy to hand to dress up as the Patrick Swayze to her Demi Moore, but as you can see, she didn’t let that stop her! The pottery wheel is a nice touch too.

90. A lava lamp!

This is a sweet costume! This lady has gone as a lava lamp. Her silver peplum skirt acts as the base of the lamp while the upper half of her body is meant to represent the pink and purple lava itself. The silver bucket hat is a nice finishing touch too, as is the plug trailing along the floor! All in all this is a fantastic DIY costume.
