Your bank holiday just got even better. As well as the hottest May Day ever predicted in the UK on the horizon, Lidl are launching their own tasty summer gins and a range of posh tonics, just in time for a bank holiday BBQ!

Called “Citrus Garden,” the boozy beverage is a mixture of aromatic botanicals, distilled in copper stills on our fair isle. The gin is described as having “notes of rosehip and hibiscus and top-notes of fresh citrus orange, lemon and bergamot peel,” which you can accompany with one of the supermarket’s premium tonics.

The tonics come in five flavours – the usual Indian tonic and light version that is available all-year-round – plus the new Mediterranean, Elderflower and Aromatic options.

Even better, they’re a bargain! The gin is priced at a measly £15.99, while the tonics will only set you back £1.99 for a box of four. In other words, you can get the lot for just £17.98!

Gin sales at Lidl have skyrocketed in the past 12 months, going up an impressive 41%. Hortus is one of their best sellers, and Lidl’s range of gins have generally been well-received by food reviewers and gin-lovers alike. In fact, the supermarket’s concoctions are so good, it’s Original London Dry Gin beat out premium competitors Sipsmith and Gordon’s in a Good Housekeeping taste test.

Head of Spirits Buying at Lidl UK, Paul McQuade, said: “The nation’s love of premium gin shows no signs of slowing down, so we’re dedicated to bringing innovative products to our ever-growing spirits range, specifically our award-winning Hortus gins. We’re especially pleased about launching these artisan tonics to complement our gin range; here at Lidl UK we want to make sure our customers know we’re the destination for true summer refreshment.”
