The popular British stand-up comedian Jethro has passed away at the age of 73, after battling Covid-19.

The comedian’s family made the announcement on Tuesday morning via a post on his official Facebook page.

The post declares, “Tragically Jethro passed away on 14th December 2021 after contracting COVID-19.”

The family asked their privacy be respected while they grieve, remarking that they will “continue to support each other in the knowledge that our lives will never be the same without him.”

Born Geoffrey Rowe in St. Buryan, Cornwall in March 1948, he rose to fame as a stand-up comedian in the 80s, with his distinctive brand of humour drawing heavily on his Cornish roots.

Jethro’s career really took off in the 90s, following appearances on TV’s The Des O’Connor Show. He was a popular touring act, with many best-selling comedy videos and DVDs, before his retirement in 2020.

Jethro is survived by his long-term partner, children, step-children and grandchildren, to whom we extend our sympathies.
