Can You Remember The Forgotten Star Wars Ewoks Movies?

The world may now be awash with Star Wars movies, but there was a time when us 80’s kids only had three. Luckily they were the best ones (we all agree on that right?), so we were still spoilt.

Yet in 1984 we received:

Caravan Of Courage: An Ewok Adventure

A family’s spacecraft crashes on the forest moon of planet Endor, teenage son Mace (Eric Walker) and his little sister, Cindel (Aubree Miller), find themselves separated from their parents. Soon these lost children encounter the Ewoks, the small and furry warriors who call the moon home. With the help of these adorable yet fearless natives, brother and sister set out on a quest to rescue their parents from the grip of a vicious monster known as the Gorax

Then the following year :

Ewoks: Battle for Endor

Marauders raid the Ewok village and steal a power supply they believe to be magical. Wicket helps Cindel escape the evil witch Charal, and they befriend a hermit who may help them save the village. Also contains the quickest cast culling I’ve seen previous to Alien 3.

Both films are not exactly beloved, but you have to remember that they were both TV movies (Although some countries got big screen viewings), so the effects department didn’t exactly pull out all the stops.

The spider in An Ewok Adventure does indeed look like it was made from stuff at the back of the cupboard, and sadness. An Ewok Adventure took fire for being somewhat slow, plodding and dull. Battle For Endor moves along a little better, but is extremely grim to start.

Roy’s Redwoods Is Endor

Caravan Of Courage was shot entirely in Marin County, home of Skywalker Ranch. Much of the action was shot in a public parkland called Roy’s Redwoods, which contains 300-year-old sequoias, the oldest in the area.

Ewoks Apparently Put You Off Acting

Aubree Miller (Cindel Towani) was chosen as a local actress, Caravan Of Courage: An Ewok Adventure would be her first movie role. Ironically Ewoks: The Battle For Endor would be her last.

Fans Think Cindel May Be Captain Phasma

An online fan theory states that Cindel Towani is Captain Phasma, who appears in Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015) and Star Wars: The Last Jedi (2017). Aubree Miller is a year younger than Gwendoline Christie.
