Celebs Before And After Surgery

When it comes to appearance, for ageing celebs life in the spotlight seems to be a lose-lose situation. It’s either get judged for growing old gracefully, or have plastic surgery to combat the curse of time and get judged for feeling the pressure to go under the knife.

From Kim Kardashian to Christian Slater, here’s a look at a number of celebrities before and after surgery.

Courteney Cox: botox and face fillers

First rising to fame in the 80s as the star of the music video for Bruce Springsteen’s Dancing in the Dark, Courteney Cox went stratospheric with Friends in 1994. The sitcom starred Cox as Monica Geller, the neurotic, hyper-organised member of the group.

For the show’s ten-year run, Cox’s look went unchanged. But while starring in the ABC comedy Cougar Town from 2009 to 2015, Cox started to look a little different.

First Cox got veneers, then botox and face fillers, which left her almost unrecognisable. Happily, Cox has since had all her fillers dissolved, and today looks back to her old, natural self.

Speaking out recently against her surgeries, Cox told reporters: “I’ve had to learn to embrace movement and realise that fillers are not my friend.”

Kaley Cuoco: nose job and breast augmentation

Kaley Cuoco isn’t afraid to admit that she got a little help with her looks before she bagged the role of ‘hot next door neighbour’ in The Big Bang Theory.

Back in 2016, Cuoco gave an interview to Women’s Health magazine in which she admitted to no less than three cosmetic surgeries. These were: a rhinoplasty, aka a nose job, to reduce the size of her nose; injecting fillers into her neck, to remove a line; and breast implants.

The latter was, says Cuoco, the “best thing I ever did.”

About her surgeries, and regarding women being criticised for altering their bodies in general, Cuoco told Women’s Health: “As much as you want to love your inner self… I’m sorry, you also want to look good.”

Nicole Kidman: numerous plastic surgery procedures costing over $1 million

At the tender age of 53, Oscar-winning Australian actress Nicole Kidman is currently experiencing a career revival.

As such, Kidman is suddenly back in the spotlight. And she might not look how audiences remember.

It goes without saying that Kidman is no longer the fresh-faced actress that broke out in Dead Calm almost 30 years ago – but that’s not for lack of trying.

Kidman’s reported surgeries on her nose, teeth and eyes came around the time Kidman was first getting her start in Hollywood. Lately, though, Kidman has also had some reportedly rather expensive work to keep her face looking young.

The rumour is that Kidman’s new, much smoother face cost a whopping $1 million.

Cardi B: bottom and breast augmentation

In September, 2018, Cardi B tried to start a fight by throwing her shoe at Nicki Minaj at a New York Fashion Week afterparty.

In short, Cardi B doesn’t care what people think.

It’s something that’s evident from the way the rapper addresses talk about her constantly changing appearance.

Now sporting breast implants, a larger bum and a new set of teeth, Cardi B has been refreshingly honest about her various procedures.

This includes telling the press exactly what happened when her illegal, literal bargain basement butt injection took a turn for the gruesome a few years ago.

Describing the procedure as “the craziest pain ever”, Cardi’s new bum leaked for five days after she paid $800 for injections in somebody’s basement.

Kylie Jenner: lip fillers, breast implants and body sculpting

Still in her 20s, Kylie Jenner has already lived one hell of a life. Recently it was announced that Jenner was on track to become the youngest billionaire ever, while she became a mother at the age of just 20.

Looks-wise, Kylie has also been through some dramatic changes in a very short space of time. Though speculation has been rife regarding Kylie’s purported cosmetic surgery, she openly admits to having had lip fillers.

Over the last few years, Jenner’s lips have become progressively fuller thanks to a series of injections.

It’s rumoured that Kylie Jenner has had breast implants and a body sculpting procedure to give her a classic hourglass figure.

Mickey Rourke: multiple plastic surgery procedures

Through the 80s, actor Mickey Rourke was a big draw – and part of that was down to his rogue-ish good looks.

In the 90s, however, Rourke imploded, briefly quitting Hollywood, starting up a boxing career and starting down the path to an addiction to cosmetic surgery.

When he returned to screens in the 2000s with films like Sin City and The Wrestler, Rourke looked very different.

Rourke would admit to having had cheek implants, which he later had removed, and claimed his new face was the result of botched reconstructive surgery after his boxing bouts. This hasn’t stopped Rourke since then having further procedures, on his nose, hair and eyes.

Also sporting some new gnashers, today Rourke is completely unrecognisable from his heartthrob heyday.

Blake Lively: rumoured nose job

It’s subtle, but it would seem Mrs Ryan Reynolds has undergone some cosmetic surgery since her early days in Hollywood.

For one, Lively’s teeth have been covered by veneers since her more crooked teen days. Lively’s nose is also slightly smaller than it once was, suggesting a minor rhinoplasty.

Lively won’t confirm or deny the surgery speculation, telling reporters: “It’s the way you address any rumour. People want to talk. They want to create negative things about you and your life. You can’t let them affect you”.

In addition, Lively’s face appears more sculpted than it once did, but the explanation for that is likely as simple as weight loss.

Simon Cowell: botox and fillers

Simon Cowell will be 60 next year, which should give an idea of just how much facial surgery the X Factor maestro has had.

Above you can see Cowell in the 1980s. Cowell’s face – along with his style – has barely shifted since. A mysterious combination of cosmetic procedures has kept Cowell looking fresh-faced.

See for yourself what the music mogul looks like now, at 59.

Along with the obvious veneers, it would seem Cowell has undergone botox treatment and had fillers inserted, leading to that shiny, unnaturally bloated look.

Angelina Jolie: suspected botox and fillers

Now approaching 50, Angelina Jolie has gone through a startling evolution since she first broke out in the 90s.

That’s not a young Aubrey Plaza – it’s just Angelina before she became a Hollywood star.

It’s easy to see why, then, that there’s been speculation over the years that Jolie has undergone cosmetic procedures.

In 2015, Jolie showed immense bravery in going public about having had her breasts removed and replaced by implants in order to stave off cancer. Cosmetic experts, however, have asked whether Jolie might also have had surgeries to keep her face looking young – namely fillers and botox.

Where once her face was round, today Jolie’s cheekbones are in danger of becoming almost as sharp as Maleficent’s – and her skin remains suspiciously smooth, too.

Aubrey Plaza: nose job?

With cult comedies like Parks & Recreation and Scott Pilgrim vs The World to her name, Aubrey Plaza has become a goth icon. But even her surly persona might not have insulated her from the pressures of Hollywood.

Back in her Parks & Rec days, Plaza played the typical teen who rejected the glamour of the limelight, and even had something of a makeover moment as she became a breakout star.

It seems, however, that Plaza might have taken her makeover a little too seriously.

Now a bonafide movie star in her own right, Aubrey Plaza is showing some telltale signs of plastic surgery. In fact, it seems like Aubrey Plaza might have had a nose job.

Then again, given that we’ve literally seen the actor and writer grow up before our very eyes, it could be entirely natural! What do you think?

Zara Larsson: fillers (and more?)

Though she’s only 23 years old, Zara Larsson has already been a celebrity in her native Sweden for over half her life.

Larsson was only 10 when she entered – and subsequently won – Talang, Sweden’s version of Got Talent. Since then, Larsson’s career has exploded, with the musician breaking out of Sweden to become an international singing sensation.

She’s also undergone what appears to be an extensive cosmetic makeover in the process.

Though she hasn’t addressed any plastic surgery rumours, Zara Larsson’s chin, lips, cheekbones and nose all appear changed.

The singer’s face, meanwhile has been left with a telltale ‘frozen’ look indicative of fillers and possibly botox.

Britney Spears: nose job and facelift

From her teen pop days to now, Britney Spears has transformed into a different person before our eyes – literally.

Famously getting breast implants while still a teenager, Spears has been tinkering with her appearance ever since.

In 2014, Spears admitted to lip fillers “and other fun stuff” – but we think there’s more to it than that.

Spears’ nose for one has narrowed drastically, a sign of a set of obvious rhinoplasties. The skin on Spears’ face also appears tighter, that pulled-back look suggesting a facelift.

Surgery experts also think the wrinkle-free face and higher cheekbones likely point to botox and fillers.

Khloe Kardashian: multiple plastic surgery procedures

Of all the Jenner-Kardashian clan, Khloe has undergone the most fantastic transformation.

Khloe, the youngest Kardashian and little sister to Kourtney and Kim, was a shy and overweight teen. Today, however, Khloe is a svelte mother-of-one who admits to having had surgical help along the way.

Khloe says she had facial fillers removed after they left her face “f***ed…It did not work for me. I looked crazy”.

It’s also likely that Khloe has had her bottom enlarged and lips plumped.

The 40lbs weight loss is all just a result of lots of hard work, though, claims Khloe.

Cher: nose job, boob job and facelift

If there’s one thing Cher is known for more than being a fiercely political singer and all-round camp icon, it’s her many plastic surgeries.

Above is a photo of Cher with her then-boyfriend Sonny Bono, enjoying a swim in LA in 1965. Things have changed since then: the former Cherilyn Sarkisian has gone solo, won an Oscar and improbably played Meryl’s mum in Mamma Mia 2.

She’s also made so many attempts to turn back time that she looks nothing like she did in her 60s heyday.

At last, aged 72, the matter of her ever-shifting looks is something the singer is happy to talk about. Having admitted to rhinoplasty and a boob job in the past, Cher also finally addressed her changing face this year, aged 72.

With characteristic wit, Cher told the Daily Mail: “Yes, I have had a facelift, but who hasn’t?”

Christian Slater: hair transplant and facelift

In the 80s and 90s, in films like Heathers and True Romance, actor Christian Slater looked like the ultimate teen idol. As time pressed on, however, Slater’s career waned – and so, inevitably, did the boyish looks.

Slater’s hairline receded along with his screen time, and his once-youthful facial features slackened and made way for the natural ageing process.

Having had a resurgence of late, thanks in large part to his role in TV thriller Mr Robot, Slater is now back on our screens.

There are several reasons to think Christian Slater has had plastic surgery. Now in his 50s, Slater sports a fuller head of hair and a face that looks permanently surprised. That’s possibly the sign of a facelift and other cosmetic procedures.

We’re putting Slater’s new, unnatural look – and oddly perma-raised eyebrows – down to a hair transplant and facelift combo.

Bella Hadid: possible nose job

As a model, Bella Hadid’s looks are everything – so it would make sense if experts were correct in their assumption that Hadid has undergone a procedure or two.

Above is a photo of Hadid a few years ago, when she was still fresh to the modelling circuit. Hadid dismissed any subsequent surgery rumours in a 2018 interview, telling InStyle “We can do a scan…I wouldn’t want to mess up my face.”

Still, Hadid’s face appears suspiciously rather different to how it used to…

Hadid’s jaw, for one, is obviously much less round than it was only a few years ago, and may have been reshaped.

It’s Hadid’s nose that’s led to the most talk, however, with some wondering if the model went under the knife to make it narrower.

Kate Beckinsale: multiple plastic surgeries (and a ‘liquefied foreskin facial’)

First emerging on the scene in the early 90s, Kate Beckinsale quickly checked herself in for a cosmetic makeover.

The most obvious change was the nose, which had become noticeably narrower by the time Beckinsale was starring in Hollywood movies.

The stereotypically ‘British’ teeth also got capped, for that forever white Hollywood look.

But from Pearl Harbour to today, Beckinsale’s look has changed again, as the actress opted for an apparent lip plump and cheek fillers. Now approaching 50, Beckinsale’s face today also looks tighter, something she puts down to a procedure known as a ‘liquefied foreskin facial’.

It’s as horrifying as it sounds: a serum made of the cloned circumcised foreskins of babies, massaged into the face.

Kim Kardashian: multiple procedures

At this point, it would be easier to count down all the procedures that Kim K hasn’t had done.

Kim has been under the knife so many times that she’s virtually unrecognisable from her teen days. There’s the two boob jobs and likely fat injections to increase the size of her famed derriere.

Kim’s also suspected of having had liposuction on her hips and waist.

Kim’s face has also seen a dramatic change. A nose job is likely, while her chin appears markedly different.

Cheek fillers round off the laundry list of Kim K procedures, while she’s also suspected of having had her hairline lifted using laser treatment.

Ariel Winter: breast reduction

Still only in her 20s, Ariel Winter has been a media fixture for almost half her life, first finding fame on TV sitcom Modern Family in 2009.

Lately, however, Winter has been a media fixture for a very different reason. Describing the onset of puberty as happening “overnight”, Winter says at an early age her breasts “kept growing and growing and growing, and it didn’t seem like they were going to stop.”

Finally, in 2015, Winter decided it was time for drastic measures after years of back-breaking pain: a breast reduction, taking her from a 32F to a 34D.

Winter made the decision because the constant back pain – as well as that the media obsession with her chest – was something she was no longer comfortable with.

After the reduction, Winter told Glamour.com: “I have felt happier with myself than I ever have.”

Sandra Bullock: nose job and fillers

In the 90s and 00s, fresh-faced Sandra Bullock became known as America’s sweetheart in films like Speed and Miss Congeniality.

It’s not a label that can last forever, however, and so Bullock has undergone a few procedures to keep herself looking as young as possible for as long as possible. Like Kate Beckinsale, Sandra Bullock has become a fan of the liquefied foreskin facial (technically known as the epidermal growth factor facial).

There has been speculation that this isn’t all the 54-year-old Bullock has done to keep her face perky, however.

After Bullock made an appearance at the 2018 Oscars, experts reckoned that the Oscar-winning actress had had fillers injected into her face.

Eagle-eyed viewers will also have noticed Bullock’s nose has shrunk over time, owing to what’s likely a series of rhinoplasties.

Natalie Portman: fillers

As a Harvard alumnus, Oscar winner and mother to Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia, Natalie Portman has nothing left to prove.

However, that hasn’t stopped some people asking whether Portman has gone under the knife.

An apparently common first port-of-call for Hollywood celebs, rhinoplasty is one procedure it’s rumoured Portman has had.

While the shape of Portman’s nose may have subtly been altered, the more obvious difference in the actress’ face can be located in her cheeks. Since 2018’s Annihilation, Portman’s cheeks have developed that sharp ‘filler look’.

However, it may just be that Portman’s cheekbones, like Angelina Jolie’s, have become more prominent as she’s lost weight post-pregnancy.

Gwen Stefani: rumoured neck and face lift

Looking at her today, you’d think Gwen Stefani either has discovered the Fountain of Youth or she has one hell of a beauty regime.

Having co-founded alternative pop band No Doubt in 1986, Gwen has been ubiquitous since the group’s breakthrough single Don’t Speak in the mid-90s.

In the time since, Stefani not only doesn’t seem to have aged, it would seem she’s actively reversed the process.

Now in her 50s, Gwen arguably looks even younger than she did in her No Doubt days. As a result, there’s speculation that Gwen has had a neck and face lift – something that she’s so far declined to address.

Stefani did, however, admit back in 2004 that she would keep surgery open as an option as time wore on. Maybe she just thought it was time.

Renee Zellweger: facelift

In the 90s and 00s, Renee Zellweger made a name for herself as the big screen’s most relatable girl-next-door type.

The look was a big part of it: in films like Jerry Maguire and Me, Myself & Irene, Zellweger didn’t abide by the rules of Hollywood glamour. For Bridget Jones’s Diary, Zellweger even gained 20 pounds to give herself the appearance of an everyday working woman.

Zellweger’s career-long rejection of Hollywood perfection prior to 2014 is probably why her apparent embracing of cosmetic surgery ruffled so many feathers.

This was the year that Zellweger re-entered the spotlight, just before filming her third Bridget Jones movie, looking markedly different.

Not only has Zellweger’s skin become unnaturally taut, but there seem to have been changes made to her eyes and mouth as well.

Lindsay Lohan: face and lip fillers

At the beginning of her career, it looked like Mean Girls and Freaky Friday star Lindsay Lohan was set to have a long and illustrious Hollywood career.

But as Lohan went off the rails, she left her old looks behind right along with a once-wholesome image.

The lips were the first to undergo a change, with collagen injected for a brand new ‘trout pout’.

Lohan also reportedly got breast implants right at the beginning of her fall from Hollywood favour. Today, Lohan is a shadow of her former self. To go along with the new lips and outsized veneers, the rest of Lohan’s face has also seen some changes.

According to reports, Lohan is now ‘addicted’ to fillers, which have left her face with a tight, stretched look.

Megan Fox: nose job and fillers

You won’t find Megan Fox admitting to having had cosmetic surgery, but she’s certainly undergone a metamorphosis over the years.

Since rising to fame in the Transformers movies, Fox’s appearance has changed drastically.

Her nose, once crooked, has been straightened and made narrower, while fillers appear to have been inserted into her cheeks. The teeth, crooked when Fox was younger, have also been paved over with perfectly white veneers.

The flawless skin also suggests botox, while some lip plumping is likely as well – despite Fox denying any alterations there.

In a 2010 interview, Fox said: “for people who question the authenticity of my lips, you can clearly see that my lips are my lips”. Since then, however, Fox’s lips have clearly become fuller, suggesting her claim no longer applies.

Uma Thurman: rumoured facelift

An alternative star since the late 80s, Uma Thurman finally blasted her way onto the movie scene in 1994 with Pulp Fiction. It was the wider world’s introduction to an actress content not to conform to the standard of perfect Hollywood beauty.

It seemed Thurman was happy to stick to the natural look, until a few public appearances in 2015 set tongues wagging about her apparently changed appearance.

Thurman’s narrowed eyes and inflated cheeks suggested a ‘swollen’ look that led to talk of plastic surgery.

Thurman addressed the rumours almost immediately, however, revealing on a chat show that it was a simple makeup experiment, going on TV sans makeup to prove her point.

“By now I would have thought that we were all open to and knowledgeable of the role that makeup plays in the world of fashion”, said Thurman. Consider her critics told.

Rumer Willis: lip fillers and jaw reshaping

With a face as distinctive as Rumer Willis’, it’s not so easy to hide any cosmetic procedures.

Bruce Willis and Demi Moore’s daughter, now 30 and an actress in her own right, will star in Quentin Tarantino’s latest film next year.

Any fans watching will notice that Rumer has undergone a serious transformation since she first started making appearances in the tabloids.

To go along with her blindingly white new teeth, Rumer has also had her lips plumped. Most noticeable, however, is the change made to that unmistakable Willis chin.

After much mockery, it would appear that Rumer has had an operation (or two) to reduce the size of that famed jaw.

Ariana Grande: rumoured eyebrow lift and nose job

Having been in the spotlight since she was 16, it’s hard to tell if Ariana Grande’s transformation is down to surgery or simply the changes that come with growing up.

In 2010, Ariana first appeared on TV screens in Nickelodeon’s sitcom Victorious. Since then, she’s gone on to be one of the biggest music stars of the day – and has experienced a significant glo-up in the meantime.

There’s speculation that Ariana has had some lip and cheek augmentation, though this could just be down to canny makeup.

It’s more likely that the Thank U, Next singer has had an eyebrow lift and rhinoplasty.

Grande’s nose is noticeably smaller than it was, but she’s as yet refused to acknowledge any surgery rumours.

Taylor Swift: unknown

She’s one of the biggest music stars in the world, having won 10 Grammys and sold more than 40 million albums to date. But if there’s one thing that Taylor Swift hasn’t managed to shake off, it’s persistent rumours of plastic surgery.

Prompted by Swift’s change in appearance from her country music days to her current slender pop stardom, Life & Style published a speculative piece in 2017.

This drew criticism from fellow celeb Sarah Hyland, of Modern Family, who tweeted “Let’s empower women instead of judging their looks.”

Life & Style, among other publications, asked whether Swift had had face-altering cosmetic surgery. However, it may just be that Swift’s having lost weight since her teen years has left her looking changed.

John Travolta: facelift (and optional wig)

How could it be that John Travolta today looks little changed from how he appeared in Saturday Night Fever way back in 1977?

Barring some magic youth-preserving technology that the church of Scientology has cooked up, we’re going to go with cosmetic surgery. The waxy complexion and tightened face suggest at least some plastic surgery, but Travolta won’t confirm anything.

For reference, see over the page for what Travolta looks like now, approaching 70.

We do know for certain that Travolta has been getting follicular intervention, thanks to some candid photos of the actor seen out hitting the gym minus any hair. Rather than having a hair transplant like so many Hollywood men today, Travolta opts for the classic wig when he’s doing the showbiz rounds.

In his downtime, though, Travolta chooses to rock the chrome dome.

Jessica Alba: rumoured nose job

If you haven’t noticed this one, it could just be because Jessica Alba hasn’t been around much lately.

Alba, who shot to fame in Sin City and two Fantastic Four films in the mid-2000s, has lately re-entered the spotlight with a new series.

While she’s been out promoting the cop drama LA’s Finest, some have noticed that Alba looks a little different.

Already rumoured to have had breast implants and a nose job before her arrival in Hollywood, Alba’s chin also now looks changed. Could it be that Alba has had surgery to reduce the size of her jaw?

Or, more likely, is it just that the mother-of-three recently just dropped weight after giving birth for the third time?

Kourtney Kardashian: breast implants and nose job

Like her sisters, eldest Kardashian sibling Kourtney has had cosmetic surgery – but she doesn’t seem to care who knows it.

Of her breast implants, KK has been unusually honest, admitting she had a boob job in college.

About her chest augmentation, Kourtney told Nightline in 2010: “it’s not a secret, I could care less”.

As well as new boobs, it looks as though Kourtney may also have – like her sisters – had work done to her face. The nose appears smaller and a subtly different shape compared to before.

Otherwise, Kourtney has probably been the least surgery-prone of the Jenner-Kardashian clan.
