29. Denzel Washington – crooked little finger
Not even 62-year-old hard man and eternal heart throb Denzel Washington comes without his flaws.
The two-time Academy award-winner has a damaged pinky finger on his right hand from playing sport as a younger man. The injury is so prominent that Washington has decided to talk openly about his crooked digit.
He did so on The Graham Norton Show all the way back in 2014.
“I went up for a pass playing American football and dislocated it,” Washington told Norton. “I had it rebuilt…but it’s like a gummy bear in there”.
The finger never set correctly and is still crooked to this day, bent at the bottom knuckle a full 45 degrees outwards from Washington’s other fingers. Still, Denzel’s cool about it now: today he calls the crooked pinky his ‘magic finger’.
28. Harrison Ford – chin scar
Speaking of Hollywood heavyweights, did you realise that Harrison Ford has a prominent scar on his chin?

You might not have noticed it in between all of his crazy stunts in the Indiana Jones films or the Star Wars movies, but it’s definitely there!
Long before Ford hit the big screen as Han Solo, he was driving down a freeway near Laguna Beach, California. The actor was on his way to work at a department store when his car veered off the road.
Ford crashed straight into a telephone pole while messing about with his seatbelt and injured himself quite badly. His face slammed straight into the steering wheel after the airbag failed to deploy – ouch!
Luckily the actor can joke about the ordeal now, and blames some “inept emergency surgery” for the prominent scar. He also added that a car crash was “a real mundane way of earning” a scar!
27. Kate Middleton – scar on skull
As a member of the Royal family, the Duchess of Cambridge is used to looking her best.
However, Middleton accidentally revealed a scar to the world’s media after pinning her hair back at a charity event.
As you can see, Kate has a visible scar along the left side of her skull.
At first the Duchess was reluctant to explain the mark, but after years of successfully hiding it we now have an answer as to how she got the scar, after Buckingham Palace recently released a statement on it.
The Palace explained that “the scar is related to a childhood operation.” Senior royal sources also claimed the operation had been very serious.
However, doctors have since come forward to state that they highly doubt the operation was a serious procedure, and instead the mark looks like a scar from a birthmark removal.
In any case, Kate’s mark is just one more thing that she has in common with her husband, Prince William. Wills has a prominent ‘Harry Potter’ style scar on the left side of his forehead. So how did he get it? Apparently it’s all down to a golfing accident which occurred when he was 13 years old.
The prince explained: “We were on a putting green and the next thing you know there was a seven-iron and it came out of nowhere and it hit me in the head.” Ouch!

26. Ed Sheeran – cheek scar
Speaking of royalty, Ed Sheeran has another member of the British Royal family to thank for this particular disfigurement. But who’s responsible?
It turns out that none other than Princess Beatrice gave him the scar!
Apparently she was hosting a dinner party at the Royal Lodge, Windsor and invited Ed along with a host of other celebrity guests.
After a few drinks, singer James Blunt joked that he wanted to be knighted. Beatrice swiftly picked up a ceremonial sword (as you do) and pretended to knight the singer…
…without realising that Sheeran was stood directly behind her.
One source claimed: “She must have misjudged the weight or something and, instead of lightly tapping him on the shoulder, she swung it back, not knowing Ed was standing right behind her.”

Ouch! Apparently Ed could have been blinded, but he played down the incident and even returned to the dinner after having his face patched up at the hospital. So there you have it! That’s quite a cool scar story to hold onto anyway. Apparently Sheeran was supposed to keep it under wraps to save Beatrice’ embarrassment – oops!
25. Britney Spears – psoriasis
She was the 90s and 00s queen of squeaky-clean pop, but Britney Spears has never been entirely blemish-free.
Spears, like 125 million people worldwide (or 2-3% of the global population), is said to suffer from psoriasis.
Psoriasis is a skin condition characterised by scaly red patches that can flare up when the sufferer is under pressure, just like in the photo of Britney’s ankles below.
It’s understandable that Spears would suffer a breakout from time to time: as everyone knows, Spears, more than most celebs, has been under enormous pressure almost her entire adult life.
Areas commonly affected include the scalp, knees and elbows, but the feet – where Britney has previously been affected – can get it too.

Spears isn’t the only one. Kim Kardashian, LeAnn Rimes and legendary folk singer Art Garfunkel have all suffered from psoriasis from time to time.
24. Tom Hardy – permanently curled finger
On-screen he’s famed for his fearsome performances, but Tom Hardy‘s off-screen reputation for intensity isn’t entirely unearned, either.
As a younger man, Hardy was a hellraiser, being arrested for joyriding and gun possession in his youth and almost losing his life to drug addiction.
One incident in his early days also left him with a deformity that he carries to this day.
A mishap with a chopping board and a kitchen knife saw Hardy stab through the little finger on his right hand, severing a tendon. The injury required three operations to allow Hardy to make a fist, but the actor’s finger now remains permanently bent.
He also has a scar on his face, which he got when he “fell off a chair superbly doing a dance class in contemporary ballet”. Take note: dance can be dangerous, kids.

23. LeBron James – scarring on back of skull
LeBron James is usually moving around so quickly you probably wouldn’t have noticed the scars on the back of his skull.
See those shapes on the right hand side of his skull? Fans of the sports star have only just noticed them thanks to LeBron’s thinning hair.

However, people can’t seem to agree on how exactly he got the prominent marks in the first place. Some claim they appeared after he tripped during a game and fell into a camera at the side of the court.
But most people think James actually has the scars as a result of hair transplant surgery – apparently the lower scar in particular is a classic case of ‘strip scar’ resulting from a hair transplant procedure.
It’s unlikely that LeBron will ever own up to whether he’s had anything done. It might be better off, though, if he put the rumours to rest once and for all. So, what do we think? Is it a simple accident, or is LeBron hiding some hair surgery?
22. David Bowie – permanently dilated pupil
It was a prominent disfigurement that only added to the late David Bowie‘s extraterrestrial mystique.
Bowie’s right eye, from when he was aged just 15, had a permanently dilated pupil.
During a fight with his old school friend George Underwood (it started over a girl they both liked, naturally), Bowie took a life-altering punch.
After Underwood’s fingernail clipped Bowie’s eye, the Starman was put in hospital for four months.
Multiple operations repaired some of the damage, but Bowie was still left with faulty depth perception and the dilated pupil that would become a trademark.

Amazingly, Bowie and Underwood stayed friends, and Underwood even went on to design the iconic covers for Bowie’s Hunky Dory and Ziggy Stardust albums.
21. Dan Aykroyd – webbed feet
Ghost busting may make him feel good, but Dan Aykroyd might not feel quite as positive about the state of his feet. Why? He’s got a very well-hidden deformity lurking under his shoes…
You wouldn’t know it, because he very rarely allows his feet to be seen on camera, but Aykroyd has syndactyly.
More commonly, you’ll know syndactyly as webbed toes, which is characterised by the fusion of two or more digits.

For Aykroyd, having syndactyly means two digits apiece being fused together on both of his feet.
At birth, human beings have a one in 2,000 chance of having the condition. There is no known cause.

Aykroyd isn’t the only celebrity with the condition, either: actor and present Ashton Kutcher has a less severe form of syndactyly in his own feet. As you can see, he’s been very open about his condition in the past!
20. Harry Styles – extra nipples
Perhaps the most successful solo performer from the now disbanded One Direction, Harry Styles certainly has his former bandmates beat in the nipple department.
The hunk beats even Lily Allen and Mark Wahlberg in that area…
Styles doesn’t have one extra nipple, but two. He confirmed as much in an interview with Chelsea Handler last year, pointing out the two small, dark spots below his “usual” nipples.
Yep, the singer definitely has a sense of humour about his condition.
Styles jokingly tried to explain away his polythelia – that’s the technical term for having one or more extra nipples – in 2013. “I think I must have been a twin, but then the other one went away and left its nipples behind.”
He’s OK with it, though: Styles called his extra nips his best trait in a radio interview with Nick Grimshaw last year.

19. Jonah Hill – scarred arm
He’s one of Hollywood’s most popular funnymen, but there’s one thing Jonah Hill doesn’t ever joke about.
Keep your eye on Hill in the likes of Superbad and Maniac, and you’ll see on his right arm is an unmistakable scar.
Looking from afar like a deep burn, Hill’s scar is actually the result of teenage misadventure.
When he was 15, Hill took to acting out, which culminated in he and a friend joyriding around LA in an SUV. As Hill stuck his arm out of the window, the car crashed, dragging Hill’s arm along the road and leaving it horrifically damaged.

Hill woke up to doctors discussing whether or not to amputate, but thankfully they decided they could save the arm. He today calls the scar “One of the biggest things ever in my life”, and a constant visual reminder to work hard and be successful.
18. Joaquin Phoenix – lip scar
You’ve probably noticed Joaquin Phoenix’s scar before, but you probably don’t know how he got it.
Fortunately the actor has been very open about his distinctive facial mark and the history behind it.
This kind of scar is usually the result of an operation for a cleft palate; however, Joaq’s may be different.
According to Phoenix, his lip scar is simply a birth mark, and it’s not actually the consequence of surgery.
Phoenix has instead claimed in interviews that his mother, during pregnancy, felt a sharp pain while carrying Joaquin, which she later felt was in some way linked to her son’s lip.

Phoenix says that the scar was already there at birth. This is considering how much the actor likes to screw with the media. Other notable actors with a ‘lip scar’ that resulted from cleft palate surgery include Tom Burke, Jason Robards and Stacy Keach.
17. Tina Fey – scar on left cheek
Funny lady Tina Fey has a traumatic story behind the prominent scar on her left cheek. Usually it’s covered up by make-up but sometimes paparazzi have managed to catch a glimpse of the distinctive mark.
Apparently when Tina was a young girl in kindergarten, a man with a knife attacked her in the alley behind her house and ended up slashing her in the face.
Fey mentioned the incident in her book Bossypants but declined to go into detail about the startling event (we can’t really blame her!).
Instead she remembered how the scar turned her into a celebrity in her local neighbourhood: “My scar was a miniature form of celebrity.
“Kids knew who I was because of it. Lots of people liked to claim they were there when it happened. I was there. I saw it. Crazy Mike did it! Adults were kind to me because of it.” It looks as though Fey managed to turn round a potentially traumatising event into something much more liberating!

16. Megan Fox – clubbed thumbs
With her near perfect looks, it’s easy to miss Megan Fox’s thumbs – unless you’re one of those people who has become obsessed with them.

Megan Fox is one of many to have ‘clubbed thumbs’, more technically known as brachydactyly of the thumb.
This is a genetic condition, characterised by one or both of the thumb nails being clubbed and the thumb being fat and round.
Typically, the distal phalanx – or, the ‘end bit’ – of the thumb for people with clubbed thumbs is two-thirds the normal size.
The condition is sometimes known as murderer’s thumb, a name originally coined by gypsy fortune tellers. To Megan Fox’s online haters, however, the condition has come to be known simply as ‘toe thumbs’.

I’m sure she isn’t bothered what the haters think. After all, she has been described as a “sex symbol of the highest order” and was voted as FHM’s Sexiest Woman in the World in 2008.
15. Jason Momoa – eyebrow scar
Game of Thrones star Jason Momoa is another celebrity with a very traumatic story behind his facial disfigurement.
Momoa hasn’t always had the scar. In 2008, he was enjoying a drink at the Bird Cafe (a tavern in Hollywood) when a fellow drinker started getting rowdy.
One man ended up approaching the actor and slashing him in the face with a broken beer glass – ouch. Momoa was quickly taken to hospital to treat the wounds where doctors tried their best to prevent scarring.
In the end the actor had reconstructive surgery which involved a grand total of 140 stitches on his face. However, Momoa has been left with a very visible eyebrow scar in the wake of the incident.

It doesn’t look as though the scar dampened his spirits though, and in fact Momoa credits his mark with transforming him from a ‘pretty boy’ into a more substantial character actor. It definitely helped in his fearsome portrayal of the Dothraki war lord Khal Drogo!
14. Daryl Hannah – missing fingertip
In 2010, Daryl Hannah told the Daily Mail: “When I was three years old, I had an accident that still influences my attitude.”
The accident Hannah was referring to occurred when she was at her grandma’s house in Chicago as a nipper.
Apparently the actress was messing about on her grandmother’s stairlift when the device trapped the index finger on her left hand. Yikes! Sounds painful.
After the accident, Hannah’s index finger was left missing two joints – not that you’d know it from watching her movies. Often, Hannah’s absent half-a-digit has been obscured in films or even disguised by a prosthetic.
The actress doesn’t want to hide it in real life, though. She says “It was terrifying, but could have been so much worse – and it has bestowed on me an ability to be a more compassionate person.”
13. Mary J Blige – eye scar
With 9 Grammy awards and eight platinum albums, Mary J. Blige is constantly being followed around by the paparazzi.
But even her biggest fans might not have noticed the scar running down the left side of her face, just underneath her eye.
The singer has been reluctant to confirm how exactly she got the mark.

Some people believe that she got it during a fight with another woman in her younger years.
Others claim that it has to do with a traumatic event in Blige’s childhood that she refuses to discuss with the media.
Blige has always refused to confirm the rumours, but she did once state that she fully accepts the scar and her other ‘deformities’ too. The actress explained: “If I don’t accept the scar on my face, the lips that God gave me, the big giant feet, the long legs, whatever it is that I’m deformed with, I got to love it so everybody else can love it.”
“And I started loving it.” Good for her! Even though we’ll probably never know how exactly she got the mark, at least her fans can rest assured that it’s not affected her self-esteem.
12. Jennifer Garner – crooked toe
The answer’s most likely a ‘no’, but reader, have you ever taken a good look at Jennifer Garner’s feet?
Like, have you ever seen them up this close?
If you had, you’d notice that the Alias star and former Batfleck wife is packing a ‘floating toe’ on her right foot.

Garner has something called brachymetatarsia. It is more commonly referred to as floating toe, owing to how the digit hovers above the others.
Though we don’t know how Garner got the bent pinky, it’s probably the result of a genetic condition.
More commonly, brachymetatarsia happens when one of the bones in the foot is too short, leaving the toe to overlap. The condition is most commonly found in women, so Garner can take comfort in knowing she’s far from alone.
11. Kesha – tail
When it comes to Kesha, the weird doesn’t stop at her claims that she once had sex with a ghost.

Yep, she’s also got her very own celeb deformity too.
Kesha (or Ke$ha, if you prefer) has also made the bold claim of being born with an extra body part. In 2013, Kesha told Heat magazine that she had a tail at birth:
“It was a tiny tail, about a quarter of an inch. They chopped it off and stole my tail when I was little”, the pop star continued.
“I’m really sad about that story.”
As it turns out, it’s not all that strange. When inside the womb, everyone develops a ‘tail’, an echo of our primate roots. This eventually dies off for most people in the womb, but some are still born with a vestigial tail, which are commonly removed.
10. Matthew Perry – partially severed middle finger
Even the stars of Friends have their little quirks.
Here, we look at Matthew Perry, aka Chandler. Take a very good look at the photograph below. Notice anything?

It might not appear obvious, but Matthew Perry is missing part of his little finger.

It occurred as the result of an accident when Perry was younger.
His grandad accidentally shut a car door on Perry’s hand when he was little.
He must have felt so guilty. The accident meant that Perry lost part of his finger. Ironically, in Friends, he misses part of his little pinky when Monica drops a knife on it by accident.
9. George Takei – deformed foot
Unfortunately for Mr Sulu, one of his feet boldly went where no foot has gone before…
…and it never returned.
According to Star Trek star and LGBT activist George Takei, one foot is now permanently cramped. And the legendary science fiction actor once revealed that the responsibility lies with one well-intentioned but ultimately life-changing fan.

Years ago – we’re talking back in the 70s – Takei received a pair of running shoes from a fan that the actor subsequently wore on a 10k run.
Nothing out of the ordinary about that right? It’s a thoughtful gesture from one of his fans?
After the run, Takei’s right foot “got the most horrific cramp and all the muscle on my right side cramped up”. Takei had surgery to correct the damage, but after a short while the foot returned to its (now permanently) curved state.
8. Charlie Puth – eyebrow scar
Charlie Puth has spent a lot of his short life in front of the camera as a singer-songwriter and budding Youtube star. So it’s hard for most people not to notice Puth’s prominent eyebrow scar on the right side of his face.

And the story behind how he got the mark is a little grisly to say the least. Apparently Puth was only 2 years old when a dog attacked him.

The incident was extremely serious and Charlie nearly passed away from his wounds. Fortunately doctors were able to save him, but Puth now bears the scars today.
He also gets annoyed with people who think he’s only shaving his eyebrow to ‘look cool’. Some of his fans have been known to shave their eyebrows to try and mimic the star, but he’s not having any of it.
We can’t really blame him, as the story behind his scar is so serious.
7. Billy Corgan – port-wine stain
One of the premier alternative rock stars of the 90s, Billy Corgan might also be the most famous person with prominent nevus flammeus.
What’s that I hear you cry?
In layman’s terms, this means the Smashing Pumpkins frontman has some unusual colouring to his skin in the form of a bright pink birthmark. Can you see it in the photograph above?

Corgan’s birthmark is also known as a firemark. It’s the result of what’s known as a vascular anomaly.
It’s a defect that leads to dilated capillaries in the skin. This results in a reddish to purplish discolouration in the affected area.
The distinctive colour is why the mark is most commonly referred to as a ‘port-wine stain’. This is because it looks like wine or port has stained the skin. Other well-known people with a firemark include Mikhail Gorbachev (on his forehead), while Tina Turner also has one on her back, on her right shoulder.
6. Michael K Williams – facial scar
Michael K Williams has starred in a string of hits including The Wire and Boardwalk Empire.
And there’s no getting away from the large scar which runs down his forehead.
It passes his nose and onto his right cheek. The actor got the scar when he was 25 years old.

He attempted to break up a fight that began at a house party in Queens, New York.
“There was a popping party going on in Queens,” Williams says. “I went outside to get some air, and I saw that two of my other friends were being surrounded by some dudes I didn’t know.”
“The dude wiped his hand across his mouth and … smacked me,” he says. “What he did was he spit a razor. He was positioning the razor in his mouth to get it between his middle finger and ring finger. And then he swiped me down my face.”
5. Lily Allen – third nipple
Lily Allen, not known for being the most reserved British celebrity, did something outrageous back in 2007.
In classic fashion she decided to flash the entire country – yep that’s right, take a look at Lily flashing below:
Live on British television, the singer elected to raise her top and reveal a nipple.

It’s something that might have caused more outrage, however, if the body part Allen was actually exposing hadn’t been superfluous.
Lets take a closer look…
The Smile and Not Fair singer hasn’t been shy about the fact that she was born with a third nipple. Allen has taken it out and showed it off on television on more than one occasion. You would have thought one would have been enough for people to be made aware? Clearly not.
According to research, there are many people have more than two nipples. In most cases these are mistaken for birthmarks.
4. Mark Wahlberg – third nipple
Lily Allen isn’t the only celeb who was loud-and-proud born with a third nipple.
Actor Mark Wahlberg is more than happy to talk about his.
As you can see from the photo above, along with Allen, Zac Efron and Tilda Swinton, the former Marky Mark is also a member of the esteemed trip-nip club. “It’s actually the size of an infant’s nipple, it didn’t grow,” Wahlberg said after he finally confirmed the rumour.

Here he is on the beach, where you can see the size of his ‘main’ nipple to the baby-sized one directly below it. In Wahlberg’s early days, the nipple was always getting airbrushed out.
When recently asked if he’d ever consider getting it removed, Wahlberg said no way.
Third nipples in humans are surprisingly common; it’s thought that 1 in every 18 people has one. Wahlberg now refers to his tiny spec of an additional nipple as his “prized possession”.
3. Karolína Kurková – missing bellybutton
Czech model and actress Karolína Kurková is proof that you don’t need to be flawless to make it in the modelling world.
She might work in the world of fashion but Kurková is anything but perfect (just like the rest of us!). But why exactly?
Kurková, best known as a former Victoria’s Secret Angel and Vogue cover star, has also appeared in films including GI Joe: The Rise of Cobra.

Anna Wintour, notorious editor of American Vogue, even called Kurková the “next supermodel”. High praise indeed!
All this, in a famously perfectionist industry, despite Kurková having an obvious physical imperfection. Kurková has a smooth indentation where her belly button should be, though nobody knows for sure why.
The BBC does, however, speculate that Kurková has no belly button: “As a result of the surgery needed to correct abdominal problems at birth”.
2. Vince Vaughn – partially severed thumb
Vince Vaughn may have been luckier than Daryl Hannah, but the result of his own accident as a young man has left him with no less freakish a digit.

When he was 17, Vaughn got into a car accident, luckily walking away with his life but – less fortunately – not all of his body parts.

The crash left Vaughn with the end of his thumb missing. The incident derailed the future funnyman’s ambitions of being a pro sportsman.
At the time of the accident, Vaughn was a passionate polo player. However, after the life-changing accident, doctors advised him to give it up.
Vaughn has embraced the accident with predictable humour, though: he calls his mangled thumb a “penis with a fingernail.” Fortunately for Vaughn, the accident was also a blessing in disguise. No longer being able to play polo, Vaughn invested more time into another of his passions: theatre. And that, as they say, was that.

1. Martin Sheen – short left arm
Martin Sheen’s deformity is so subtle, you’ve probably never noticed it.
This is despite the actor having graced our screens for close to 50 years now.
In Sheen’s own words: “I’ve got this deformed left arm, three inches shorter than the right, can’t do a thing with it”.
Unfortunately, it’s been that way for Sheen since the day that he was born. And this was some 78 years ago.
During a difficult birth, Sheen was brought into the world with forceps, which crushed his left arm. This was actually a serious incident which ended up affecting the actor for the rest of his life.
The botched forceps gave Sheen’s arm limited lateral movement, and by adulthood the arm was three inches shorter than Sheen’s right. And about Sheen’s claim that he “can’t do a thing with it”?
