This show has come a long way and now it’s extremely successful! However, over the years, there have been many imitations. Which is, of course, the sincerest form of flattery! Take a look at some of these secondhand mutants.
1. The Originals.
This is the one we all know and love. This cartoon was released in 1987.
Image Source2. Extreme Dinosaurs.
These dinosaurs were definitely EXTREME!
Image Source3. Road Rovers.
Mutated dogs instead of turtles. A great idea!
Image Source4. Biker Mice From Mars.
Any group of animals with extreme powers were all the rage!
Image Source5. Avenger Penguins.
Even penguins can be rough and tough!
Image Source6. Toxic Crusaders.
Believe it or not, they still air old episodes every once in a while. So, you can still catch them for the first time if you never have before.
Image Source7. Wild West COW Boys of Moo Mesa.
These cows took the law into their own hands.
Image Source8. Battletoads.
This was the best replica of TMNT so far.
Image Source9. The Cheetahmen.
They had three Cheetahmen video games by Action 52 but never made it into the toy lines, comic books or TV shows.
Image Source10. Samurai Pizza Cats.
Cats can be tough too! It seems that all animals wanted to be like turtles.
Image Source11. Street Sharks.
Sharks are pretty scary anyway but now they are terrifying!
Image Source12. CyBoars.
These began as a line of toys in the 90s but they didn’t do so well.
Image Source13. SWAT Kats: The Radical Squadron.
Clearly, they were grasping at straws with this one.
Image Source14. Stone Protectors.
They made cartoons and Troll Dolls. They got pretty close to becoming popular.
Image Source15. Bucky O’Hare and the Toad Wars.
All of these mutants had something in common. Fighting evil!
Image Source16. Creepy Crawlers.
This was a hugely popular toy line. Mutant bugs instead of Mutant Turtles.
Image Source17. The Punk Frogs.
Well, they tried again with this one. However, nothing ever compared to the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
