Mother’s Day is Fast Approaching!
You’re welcome for the reminder if you had forgotten! It’s mother’s day on Sunday 11th March, so what better time to look back a selection of cards you might have been sending your Mum back when you were a child? Do you remember sending your mum any of the cards that follow? Let us know in the comments as always!
1. A traditional starter
Did you get your mum something traditional like this, that even at the time would have seemed quite old fashioned? Maybe your mum loves cards like this? Someone has to!
2. A more complimentary card?
Well I guess if you’re saying your mum is “neat”, and everything in the picture is in its place, you’re saying she’s doing a great job around the home, right? Nothing stereotypical about that and you’d definitely get away with it today!
3. An unusual edition
This one is a little bit niche, as not that many kids call their mum “Mama” in the UK as a rule. I have to say at this point, however, to totally contradict myself, my nephew and niece are half Spanish so call my sister “Mama”, so this would be perfect for them!
4. Very artsy!
A more artsy entry, but one that a lot of people would have loved to receive as this kind of style was very popular in the 80s, so this was quite a fashionable card!
5. Another more traditional entry
Another card that even at the time would have seemed quote old fashioned. Did any kids really buy cards like this for their mums? I can’t imagine children being tempted to buy a card like this?
6. A cuter entry
Did you get your mum a cute animal card? There were always plenty of these to choose from, and what mum doesn’t love a nice cute animal wishing them a happy Mother’s Day?
7. An “Amusing” card
I can’t tell if this is poking fun at the son or at the Mum’s driving ability. But I’m sure someone found it hilarious!
8. Who doesn’t love Snoopy?
Everyone loves Snoopy and the gang, so did you get your mum a Peanuts card? Nothing says Happy Mother’s Day like a smiling Beagle!
9. A nice, simple card
A nice, traditional, and simple card that says all it needs to. Sometimes less is more, and this is just a nice entry in the collection.
10. What mum wouldn’t love a picture of perfume?
Yep, another old fashioned entry, and it’s a simple card. With a perfume bottle on it. Because that way you don’t have to spend money on actual perfume presumably?
11. Another card that’s definitely not stereotypical
It’s definitely going to be a special day for mum when she’s yet again stuck doing all the housework. That’s presumably all mums are good for right? Thank God times have moved on!!
12. Finish as we started
Another traditional card to finish, a simple affair that would have been old fashioned even at the time!
So do any of these bring back memories of cards you gave to your mum growing up? Are you a mum that remembers receiving any of these? Let us know in the comments as always!
