Who could forget when Headbanger’s Ball began in April 1987? It was the first time that we were exposed to heavy metal and big hair music on a regular basis. Also, many of these videos began with a story line that made us love it even more. We would stay up late on Saturday nights and often with groups of our friends just so we can check out which videos MTV would air next. They were filled will loud guitars, screaming vocals and the most insane music that we have yet to experience. If you remember watching this program back in the 80s, these are the videos that you were hoping to see.
1. Mother – Danzig.
This was out in 1988 and was lead by singer, Glenn Danzig who recently left Misfits to start his own band. It was well received!

2. Enter Sandman – Metallica (1988).
This was considered ‘heavy metal’ for sure! We absolutely looked forward to seeing this video:
3. Welcome to the Jungle – Guns N’ Roses.
This band was really popular and any song from them was greatly appreciated!
4. Wasted Years – Iron Maiden.
I love the old footage in this video!
5. Rock You Like A Hurricane – Scorpions.
To this day, this song lives on!
6. I Love It Loud – Kiss.
Kiss was famous for their face makeup which was said to conceal their true identities so that they could lead normal lives. Years later, they gave up the makeup.
7. Always There For You – Stryper.
They were the ultimate rock band with their own helicopter! Plus, they were a Christian heavy metal band so it was justifiable with the parents.

8. Round and Round – Ratt.
“What comes around goes around. . . ” you know the song!
9. We’re Not Gonna Take It – Twister Sister.
The whole beginning of this video is hilarious!
11. Smokin’ in the Boy Room – Motley Crue.
This is another long intro video and a classic song!

This video played on this show a lot! We all know this one well.
