It’s hard to explain to those who have not lived through this decade why we freak out about it so much when we are reminded of how awesome it really was! I suppose the best that we can do is pass on some of this passion that we have for the past so that young people today might be able to wonder about it just a little bit more than they do now. Anything to take their mind off the concerns that they have today. Take a look:
1. Grease was still popular.
This movie made singing and high school look like loads of fun. Now, it’s kinda cheesy.
2. Inspiring Family TV Shows.
The whole intro of this show is about two people who love each other very much and then grew to have this amazing family.
3. Michael Jackson.
This was back before any controversy or myths. He was just a cute kid who grew up to be a major star.
4. Sixteen Candles.
This was a romantic movie about an awkward girl who wants to be noticed by an older guy at school. Her awkwardness turns to perfection when he finally notices her.
5. Aliens were our friends.
Instead of making aliens destructive murderers, we had hope that contact with an alien would be as cool as this.
6. The Breakfast Club.
The Breakfast Club finally showed how similar we all are, despite our apparent differences.
7. WWF.
We believed that these guys were really wresting. It was years before we realized that it was all an act!
8. Rock Bands.
Back when they were really epic!
9. 401K, IRA, Roth.
We didn’t care about any of this stuff!
10. Big Hair.
Get a perm, style it. That is how we dealt with bad hair. It worked fabulously!
11. Let’s DAAAAANCE!
This was our motto and we loved to dance. It solved all of our problems every time.
