Exciting News For Alan Partridge Fans Has Just Been Announced

We’ve just heard some news that will make you go “AHA!”…

We’re sure that many of you are big fans of Alan Partridge just as we are, but for those of you who are currently scratching your heads, Alan Partridge (middle name Gordon) is a fictional character portrayed by English actor and comedian Steve Coogan. He is essentially a parody of a number of British television personalities, resulting in him being a rather terrible TV and radio presenter who often insults his guests.

Alan Partridge has been referred to as “a national treasure” and “one of the greatest and most beloved comic creations of the last few decades”. Vanity Fair described him as being “as cherished a part of British comedy heritage as John Cleese’s Basil Fawlty and Rowan Atkinson’s Mr. Bean.” And being that he is so very popular, we’re sure it’s with great delight that many people will welcome the news that he is set to return to our TV screens in a brand new show…

The new show, called ‘This Time With Alan Partridge’, is set to broadcast later in 2018, and although a specific date hasn’t yet been announced, it’s thought that it will be around June time. It will see the hapless presenter be handed a “a career lifeline” as he is brought in as a temporary host on a show that is being described as “a heady mix of consumer affairs, current affairs, viewer interaction, highbrow interview and lightweight froth.”

The new show, filming on which began today, will co-star Susannah Fielding and Tim Key. It will be taking a swipe at daytime current affairs shows such as ‘The One Show’, and it has also been confirmed that Partridge will be addressing the heady subject that is Brexit. We for one can’t wait to see what he makes of that massive can of European worms…

Last year Steve Coogan said that he had been struggling over whether or not to include Brexit in the new show, telling the Radio Times “The world has coalesced into a situation that is sympathetic to Alan, which for me is quite depressing. Sometimes I agree with Alan but on Brexit I’m a remainer, and I feel quite conflicted about it. But the fact is having a fool praise something is a far more powerful indictment than just criticising it.”

Are you a fan of Alan Partridge? Are you excited to learn of the news that he’s set to return later this year? If you know of any other fans, be sure to share this post with them so that they too can declare…“AHA!”
