Nickelodeon was a household name in the late 90s and it appears as if they are attempting to cash back in on that popularity once again by announcing that they are reviving some of their previous programming into scripted TV movies. The first show to get this honor is the beloved Legends of the Hidden Temple and the fans could not be happier!
According to Variety, the movie will feature three siblings working their way through multiple obstacles that will seem just like the original game show. It will be aired in two parts. Here is what they have to say about it:
“In Hidden Temple, three siblings must conquer a series of obstacles to remain alive, mirroring the theme of the original game show. The TV movie, slated to appear in the fourth quarter of 2016, will nod to other elements from the original show, including Olmec, a talking head who knows the secrets behind the temple; The Steps of Knowledge, the entrance to the temple and launching pad for the mission; and cameos from a green monkey, red jaguar, and silver snakes, among others.”
The star of this new TV movie will be Isabel Moner who was previously on Nickelodeon’s live-action sitcom 100 Things to do Before High School. It has also been rumored that Hey Arnold! is going into film production as well and will be split into two parts as well.
Here is the artwork for their first project.
The network said that both halves of the movie will air sometime in 2017. So far, they have released this updated artwork for this TV movie adaptation. It is clear that those who were fans of these two shows are extremely excited about this new movement to bring back those programs that made Nickelodeon a success back then. There is no doubt that this will continue to bring them success in the future.
